Hey there!

I'm Alex from New York City.

I was born in Metepec, Edomex to an American mother and Venezuelan father. I moved to the United States when I was nearly 9 years old. I studied classical music (I play the oboe in orchestras and teach music in New York). I was inspired to travel by my older sister, who travelled through Europe for nearly two years. I travelled in the fall to Colombia, working my way through Medellin down to Bogota, and then in Mexico City. I am in Mexico for the summer looking to learn and explore this beautiful country.

I'm interested in history, contemporary politics, fashion, art, music, film, comedy and I love more than anything to learn through conversation and experience.

My favorite thing about music is the memories that come attached to my favorite ear worms. I love Maurice Ravel, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Dua Lipa, Ariana Grande, Astrud Gilberto, Chicano Batman, Monsieur Perine, Celia Cruz, Solange, Beyonce.

Some of my favorite movies include Y tu mama tambien, Matilda, American Beauty just to name a few.

I love James Baldwin's writing. Currently working through a little bit of Gabriel Garcia Marquez. On my list is Octavio Paz and Melissa Harris Perry. I love poetry.
