Let's start with my name. It might be a little bit confusing but interesting at the same time, tho. So my name is Aleksandra, but everybody calls me Ola - both means the same, basically. The first one I've gotta use in documents, formal situations, when the second one works like a nickname.

I've lived in Poland until I reached 22 yo., and then I've moved to the United States as an exchange cultural program participant (more basically saying, I'm an au pair in the US). For half of the year, I've been living in the suburbs of New York City (Westchester County), and then I moved to Maryland state, which is so close to the capital of the US. Well, NYC will always be in my heart, I love this city so much, but it the meantime, I feel like here, around D.C. is much better - more nature, greens, and the best thing, here's not that crowdy like it is in New York.

Since I came to US, I've been hosted by families, different one in NYC and different one here, in Maryland. That means, I do not live alone, that's why I cannot host anybody, but I'll be more than happy to show somebody around the capital - Washington D.C.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

How do I participate in couchsurfing?
- I am looking for being hosted.

It's nice to meet new people who like to share the local culture. It's something different than just sleeping in hotels/hostels. Also, I'd like to keep learning how to leave the comfort zone and do something adventurous, and meet new people.

Interests

Volleyball is my love, it's on the top of the list of my interests. I've been playing since middle school, and then after I graduated, I joined some amateur groups that I met through social media to keep playing regularly. Even here in the US, I found a group to play with.

My second love is traveling. My first trip was to Ireland for an internship from school, and since then, everything started. I've been to few places in Europe, and now I'm trying to focus on traveling around North America before I go back home.

When I get bored, usually I meet my friends, cook or bake something for fun, paint (I have hanging on my wall few paintings what I painted) or just watch a movie if I have a lazy day at home.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm not a huge fan of books, it just makes me bored, but I highly respect anybody who reads, I know it takes a lot of time. I'm a huge fan of movies instead. I'm mostly into horror/thriller/comedy/psychological movies, but I'll also watch anything that seems to be interesting for me.

Music is something that I cannot live without. During workout, cooking, cleaning, driving I have to have music on. 🤣 I'm mostly into rap/hip-hop or something older, like 80s or 90s.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've gone skydiving on the one of the most beautiful places in the world - Hawaii.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm not the best in teaching things, but I might tell about some typical polish dishes/recipes, polish culture. I'll be happy to exchange experiences about travels, hobbies, etc. We can also try to go play volleyball if there's time and I can show the basics of that.
