About Me

ABOUT ME

I am an artist, writer, director and filmmaker by profession but a traveler and wanderer at heart. I am most at peace with myself when I am exploring different cultures and seeking out new, crazy, life-altering adventures. Some of my favorite memories from traveling are visiting the temples of the Nile, meditating with monks in Thailand, dancing to reggae all night in Cusco, backpacking the Alps and Andes, playing soccer with elephants, or my favorite pastime in LA is reflecting and experiencing a masterful work of art. I love swapping travel stories over a glass of wine or a campfire on the beach. I cherish each connection I make and look forward to life's next great adventure!

PHILOSOPHY

"To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Back in 2009 I traveled to 28 different countries while filming a documentary with my brother. Every couch surfing experience was exceptional and really made our trip! Now that I have received so much while traveling I feel it is my turn to give back to the couch surfing community.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I surfed in:
Heredia, Costa Rica - Mario
Monte Verde, Costa Rica - George
Lima, Peru - Alejandra
Bordeaux, France - Jullian
Munich, Germany - Johannes
There were many more that I forgot to update this section as I was traveling so if I left you out I apologize.

Every experience has been wonderful and I have really enjoyed getting to know the cultures and people that I have visited. The couch surfing community is really unique and amazing to be a part of!

Music, Movies, and Books

Films are true works of art capturing the expression and nuances of life. Some all time favorites: La Strada, City of Women, 8 1/2, La Dolce Vita, Satyricon (yes I'm a huge Fellini fan), El Topo, The Holy Mountain, Ran, Rashomon, Ikiru, Seven Samurai, Bergman's Silence of God Trilogy, A Woman is a Woman, Weekend, Contempt, Amelie, Delicatessen, The Fountain, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Braveheart, Mishima, Kundun, Last Temptation of Christ, Baby of Macon, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover. Since I can't name them all I love everything directed by Tarkovsky, Jodorowsky, Fellini and Kurosawa.

Music my all time favorite band is The Doors. But I do love Pink Floyd, John Lennon, Sigur Ros, Beirut, Bon Iver, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Florence and the Machine, Bob Marley, Tegan and Sara, Angels and Airwaves, etc. I love Jazz like Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald, and Duke Ellington! However, I find myself always listening to composers such as Nino Rota, Clint Mansel, Phillip Glass, Ludovico Einaudi, and Max Richter.

Books are my great love affairs in life. Favorite books of all time are "Don Quixote," "Sun Also Rises," "England, England," "Fools Crow," "Crow," "Howl," "Desert Solitaire," "Thus Spake Zarathustra," "The Divine Within," as well as anything by Alan Watts, Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, Aldous Huxley, Julian Barnes, Virginia Woolf, Hunter S. Thompson, Jeanette Winterson, and Fredrich Nietzsche. Right now I'm reading "Infinite Jest" and loving it!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
