Hi! My name is Alena (pronounced as “Alyona”, which is very hard for foreigners, but practice makes perfect;) )

I’ve been happily married since June 2016 and my husband’s name is Sergey. We have 2 cats, both taken from the street – Saoirse (our older one has an Irish name) and Merida (our younger girl is fearless so she was named after the main character from the animated movie “Brave”).

I used to work in the marketing department of a big international company (so, be creative when writing your request ;) ) but now I’m in charge of our family business. Just to give you a short overview of my everyday responsibilities: I’m the owner (along with my husband) of an Irish dance school in Moscow, a teacher of Irish dance, a singer in an Irish band, an assistant of a videographer (my husband is a professional videographer), a part-time real estate manager (at my sister’s agency), a content manager for 3 websites and 5 Instagram accounts, but my main role of course is being the perfect wife ;)

I love chocolate and sweets in general, animated movies, rollerblading, playing badminton, sunbathing, I reeeaaallly love sleeping and trying new things cause I easily get enthusiastic about new things and new people.

Some more facts about me:

I have tried 6 types of dancing: ballroom dancing, belly dance, ballet, flamenco, modern style, and Irish dance. Next on my list: Indian and pole dancing.

I have an American accent, though I’ve never been to America.

I really love Italian cuisine and would love to learn the Italian language. (Voglio parlare italiano perche amo la cucina italiana:) )

I adore driving my car and am fond of road trips.

I hate trains.

IMPORTANT TO KNOW (if you want to stay with me, my husband, and our cats)

If you don’t like cats – please don’t send a request.

If you write an impersonal/copy&paste/very short request – you won’t stay with us (sorry).

We host only for 2-3 nights and only when we have enough free time to chat and spend time together.

Special note for the Irish: we (my husband and I) are both fans of Ireland and Irish culture so you are very welcome at our home :)

We recently found out that we are gay-friendly, so if you’re gay feel free to send a request.

Little hint. If you want to become my friend – bring a small present.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We (my husband and I and the cats) decided to become a part of the CS community first of all to host. Any guest at our home will be hosted as a dear friend. We are happy to share our food, time, stories, experience and cats’ love with couchsurfers.

We're fans of comfortable travel, so if we ever are guests at a couchsurfer's home, that will be only for a couple of nights and only for a cultural exchange and unique local experience -- not to save money (we all know many people think CS is a free hostel, right? that's not our story).

I love the English language, which I can speak fluently, so one of the main reasons I'm on CS is for English speaking practice. I would be happy to host or meet up with foreigners especially native speakers. My husband is learning English, so he'll be happy to improve his communication skills too.
