ABOUT ME

My name is Aleš (or Ales, if your keyboard does not support extended characters). I was born in '91 in Slovenia. I study Slavic languages and literature, ATM I'm starting to write my master thesis about use of videogames in teaching literature. Since I remember I'm interested in art, especially literature. I also write fiction and scripts for comics, films and theater, but I'm not considering myself an artist just yet. I also act sometimes for amateur theater and sometimes I'm invited to read my work at different cultural events. I'm also co-editor of magazine about literature Liter jezika ('jezik' is language). Well, I also love to travel and meet new people, and because of that I'm starting my couchsurfing experience. I am very easy going, I love to chat about anything, I love going to concerts or just listening to music in random bar, dancing (even if I'm making fool of myself, since I'm not good dancer) and simply living and enjoying life and people I met. And I'm very geeky sometimes (in means of loving videogames, manga, anime, comics, popular films, cosplay ...). You can found me at facebook, just add /alesceh91 after the '.com' part of facebook. PHILOSOPHY

Hm ... thats hard to answer. Like Stephen Merchant and many others I believe travel expands your mind. On my wall in room I've got many quotes from John Lennon, Cankar and Tarkovsky. I guess I can identify myself with their philosophy :).

I am offering my couch 7 days a week and hoping to start my surfing experience in late 2014/2015.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm just starting my couchsurfing experience in late 2014, but sometimes I hang out with couchsurfers in Maribor, if I met them, since I love to meet new people.

Interests

Traveling and discovering culture all over the world. I'm also interested in arts: I love to write (mostly short stories, screenplays for comics, films and theatre), I enjoy acting, I would live to direct short movies sometimes or be game designer. I am also editor of student magazine about literature, so I'm interested in discovering new artist and writting articles about art. I help with organizing many events where young artist can present themselves.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to almost every genre of music, but have a particularly high interest for piano music. Among genres that I love are jazz music, acoustic rock, folk, rap (even in languages I don't understand) ... Some of my favorite bands/musicians are: Co-Sovel, Dustin O'Halloran, Kate Tunstall, N'toko, Nils Frahm ...

I love USA indie movies, Cinema of Europe, Asian filmography and everything in beetween. I also love B-films, monster movies (especially rubber suit monsters) and exploitation films from 70's and 80's. Among my favorire directors are Andrei Tarkovsky, Bergman, Kevin Smith, Trier, Linklater. My favorite film to date is La grande bellezza (2013). Favorite film from 2014 - Boyhood.

Im am currently getting my master's degree in literature so 95% of time I'm reading for my study (mostly Slovenian classic literature). But I also like pulp literature (I love stories and aesthetic of old pulp SCI-FI/horror/crime magazines), comics (both European and superhero comics. I also read some manga (ecchi) sometimes) and childrens literature.

I also love videogames. I mostly play indie games and want to become game designer myself someday. I read many literature about game theory and game design. My favorite AAA games are GTA 5, Last of Us, SOTC; my favorite indie game is Paper's Please.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share my knowledge of SLO literature, I can teach some slavonic languages. I can teach you reading cyrillic script and help you with "decryption" of some old languages (like Old Church Slavonic language). Plus many more :). I would love to learn how to draw or more about arts.
