About Me

Hi everyone,

I joined CS in 2016; so far my experiences have been great and introduced me to lots of cool and interesting people!

I'm currently based in Northern Italy, near Milan, and I travel every now and then around Europe.
My life-changing experience has been becoming an au pair in the USA, which I decided to do back in October 2015. After living and working in the beautiful state of Maryland for one year, I moved back to Italy to begin my studies in college. In November 2019, I graduated in Foreign Languages and Literatures (Bachelor degree); I am now studying Digital Humanities (Master's).

So, how did I get the so-called 'travel bug'?
To begin with, America is absolutely incredible. I've been to the big cities on the East Coast (NYC, Washington DC, Philadelphia, Boston, Miami, Atlantic City...) and a few on the West Coast -San Francisco, LA, Las Vegas- plus the National Parks on a 2-week vacation. I got the chance to fly back to the East Coast shortly after my graduation, and I visited Shenandoah NP as well - definitely recommend.
I've also been to many countries in Europe, sometimes to get a break from the busy life we all get to live, sometimes for the mere curiosity of seeing what's beyond the border.
Learning how to get around by myself, witnessing so many cultural/social realities, listening to stories I had never thought I would hear in my entire life, all that has affected me deeply at a spiritual level and helped shape my personality.
And, you see, for me it's not about the physical places, it's not about how much sight-seeing you manage to squeeze in one day, it's rather about the people and the stories they have to tell!

That being said, I cannot wait to plan my next adventure and I'm looking forward to inspirational conversations with new friends.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like thinking of couchsurfing as a great opportunity to get to know people and places in a spontaneous and fun way; can't wait to visit around and enjoy my holidays/days-off with new buddies!

Interests

I love art (drawing portraits and caricatures, painting, sketching) and photography; I enjoy writing and singing. I used to play the piano in my childhood and I have lots of musician-friends. In love with Literature too -especially Italian, French and English.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Jumped from a freaking high cliff, photographed the Milky Way in Arizona ( IG: @alebormioli.photography), camped in the Grand Canyon and Yosemite Valley, experienced sunset reflected on hidden Greek caves' walls...
