About Me

The following should not seen as rules :) but i hope all surfers will read, so before sending a couchrequest please:

1. Read accurately my profile and my references, look at all my pictures (they describe my work, spare time, hobbies, some of the surfers hosted, nature and beauties of Sicily, my house,...) you could understand better which kind of host I am, and maybe formulate the best request. Maybe you need more time and you will be able to write just to few people, but FOR SURE in a better way.
2. Don't send short “ copy and paste messages”, don't waste your time. You're on the right way if your answer to the question: "Why do I want to stay with this host?" is more like, "He loves practising sports and so do I," or "We could have a crazy night out together." Let me know why you're interested in meeting me as a host and how we could spend amazing time together.
3. Write a decent couchrequest, expecially if you have few references. Things like "Hey, can you host me for a couple of days?" or "i need a place for tonight" are considered a bit rough and unkind for a person who is giving you time, accommodation and care. I don't like to be used only as " a sleeping place", so give me a good reason to host you.
4. Fill your profile completely. If I don't know anything about you, how can I host you? In this case, it doesn't matter to write a lot, but you need to do it just once, and you will see the results. The more you write on your profile, the more reliable you are.
5. Upload pictures who describes your life style and how is world seen by your eyes. More than couple of pictures of you are also welcome.
6. If you don't travel alone, copy the profile link of those who travel with you (I prefer people with clear profiles, so please don't tell me "my friend has no profile" cause I will say "you better convince him/her to make one":)
7. Remember an important thing: i like tidy and clean people :)

How could we spend time together?

1. Visiting the city and its suburbs (historical places, such as churchs, monuments, promenades, sea, lakes, hills....).
2. Going to the beach, also with my friends.
3. Practising sport together, like jogging, beachvolley, playing billiard, table football,....
4. Having lunch and dinner together and tasting most of the typical Sicilian dishes.
5. Having a good discussion maybe in front of a good drink, watching a movies together,...
6. Having parties, expecially at the beach during summer season.
7. I like active and dynamic people, so you could suggest alternative things :)

Rules for guests:

1. I don't host big groups of people and couples. Usually I host 1-2 surfers at the same time and for a period of time not more than 2 days, so please make a complete itinerary for your travel before arriving at my place (more than one time happened that surfers asked me to stay more because they didn't know where to go).
2. If i have to go out from my house for some tasks i prefer also my guests do the same.
3. Please respect at least the day of your arrival and if possible the time, because when i'm waiting for surfers i use to take all day (or most of it) free for them, so tell me in advance if you have a problem and you will not come.

The accomodation

1. I live in a big house in the northern part of Messina (about 7 km from the city center). It's a quite and nice area, very close to beaches, lakes, clubs...
2. If i will be free i can pick you up from the station, if not you can easily reach my house in 20-25 minutes with bus 79 from the central station.
3. You will have your private room and if possible a private use of the bathroom, but you MUST leave everything tidy and clean as you have found.

Lunch or dinner together

I eat more or less everything, our typical cousine is full of cheese, pasta, fish, meet, so please let me know before if you can't eat something or if you are vegetarian or vegan.

When you send me a couchrequest write me your favourite taste of icecream, so i will know that you read at least this important part of my profile, otherwise i will decline your request immediately.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Ciao :) I'm Alex from Messina. I'm a teacher of Sport Science in a secondary school. I'm a open-minded person, kind, helpful, reliable and friendly. I like travelling and meeting new people from all over the world, i like sharing my interests and thoughts with them.
Through this website I hope be in touch with different cultures and make lots of friends from all over the world. I hope to find people that could join me and show me all the marvellous places that i haven't visited yet. It would be also a pleasure to have the chance to show them my beatiful and amazing Sicily.

Interests

I'm a positive and active man. As a consequence of living in a place of sun I use to practise a lot of outdoor sports such as jogging, soccer, tennis and beachvolley .
I like playing billiard and table football.
I love the sea and the beach, i like having parties with friends, maybe in front of a good bonfire during summer.
I love eating good food, expecially typical Sicilian plates.

I don't like reading, although sometimes i use to read english books and articles to practise my second language.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the best thing i've done : help people in need. I'm proud to have done it all the times i could.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach Italian language and Sicilian dialect, basics of soccer, tennis, beach volley, how to do or receive a good massage.
I could share my knowledge about English language and all my life experience.
I'd like to learn more about Spanish, Russian, Polish language and all possible about foreign cultures.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share at first my house, then friends, night life, parties on the beach, sightseeing, one of the best mediterranean beach,...and for sure a great holiday :)
