About Me

I'm a curious individual with many interests and passions and a love for travelling and adventuring.

If you want to know more about me check out below

Hobbies

My main passion is filmmaking and photography, in the past I've created several short documentaries and short films (travel films, parkour videos etc.), you can check out my content on YouTube (Search "Alessandro Portante"). I also enjoy making stuff... I recently built a bamboo race bike that I'm using to train for my triathlons.

My Education

I studied in Rome up until the second year of high school. Here I mainly focused on humanities, studying ancient Greek and Latin along with several other subjects like history, Italian literature and maths. In 2016 I started a new journey in Bristol, UK where I joined Sixth Form to complete my A-Levels in Maths, Further Maths and Physics. Graduated from High School in July 2018 I decided to get 5 months off before starting University in Maastricht, NL where I'm currently reading Maths and Physics.

Sports

I'm keen in working hard and sweating ;) . With a background in swimming and athletics as a kid, the sport that mostly contributed to my mental attitude and physique was Parkour which I started at 10 years old. I've practiced it for over 7 years and still tracing however occasionally. I tried a few other sports in the past such as rowing and climbing. Last year I started training for triathlons, and I'm loving it, looking forward to completing an Ironman In the near future.

Music

I've practiced Classical Guitar for 5 years, however due to studying abroad I let it go and stopped playing it. Now that I'm at Uni I want to pick it up again since I probably became quite rusty, maybe get together a mini band and
have jam sessions.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm keen in helping and meeting new people. I like being spontaneous and going out of my comfort zone, I'm part of the huge "Yes Theory" community in "Seeking Discomfort" and I believe that's how we should live our life to make the most out of it!
