Overview
About Me
Ugh, I hate those. Always been bad at introductions. So...
I love exploring the world (when I can, which is not nearly as often as I would want to).
I love cinema, videomaking, and Chinese language and culture.
I love sports. Hiking and martial arts and climbing and yoga.
Also trying to become a tea taster, I guess. One can always hope!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm a traveler. I love sharing travels and stories, ideas and dreams. I expecially love traveling by foot, and I try to do it at least once a year. Nothing compares being able to cross countries slowly, over several weeks, feeling the subtle changes in the wind and the plants slowing giving way to other species, colours and smells.
Interests
Any kind of cinema, from obscure arthouse to genre flicks. Really. It's that simple.
I also love writing, or losing myself in a work of art. I'm a sucker for museums, even boring ones ;)
Literature is another big passion of mine. Classic novels aside, I really enjoy science fiction (Asimov and Le Guin expecially) and experimental literature.
I really enjoy climbing. It's like playing chess with you body, it's a play of the mind with the support of physical power and willpower. It feels amazing.
I have been studying a bit of western martial arts and medieval fencing since 2015. Also a Yoga newbie.

Music, Movies, and Books
Most arthouse cinema, Chinese cinema, European cinema... pretty much all cinema. I love Bresson, Wong Kar-Wai, Bergman, Godard, Kore-Eda, Mizoguchi, Wang Xiaoshuai, Tsai Ming Liang, Epstein, Fabrice Du Weltz and oh so many others.
Tarkovskij, Pasolini, Hellman, Lubitsch, Cukor, Mankiewicz, Welles, Hou Hsiao Hsien, Edward Yang. Enough. Ok. I get it.
Fitzgerald, Javier Marias, Philip Roth and Gao Xingjian, Ursula Le Guin, Isaac Asimov, and so many others.
Cinema & media essays, from film directing to digital media theory.
Music. Pretty much everything aside from bad, bad pop.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Wandering in the mist of Southwestern China's mountains, with no food and no clue about where I was.
Traveling in the countryside with friends and discovering forgotten ruins and awe-inspiring landmarks.
Making paste out of a bathbasin full of tomatoes.
