About Me

I want to begin by saying that the passion of my life is undoubtedly travelling. I'm relatively young (27, nearly 28, alas!), therefore i have quite much time to make new experiences, but my desire for discovering different realities already brought me to visit lots of foreign countries, where i met incredible people with incredible stories to tell. So, in order to make this will the "job" of my life, i've decided to study languages and literature at the university of my hometown, Bergamo, while In 2015 i started a master's degree in cultural anthropology in the beautiful and vibrant little town of Bologna (Italy).
In Europe i've visited countries such as: Spain, Croatia, France, Greece, Germany, the UK (i've lived for some years both in London and in Edinburgh) and Iceland, where i did Workaway for the first time in the summer of 2015. But, to tell the truth, the continent with which i definetely fell in love with is Asia: i've visited India twice (the first time just for fun, the second time to attend a conference on the topic of education near New Delhi), Japan (where i Woofed for a couple of months in 2013), Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and Thailand. As regards this last country, i've won a fellowship that allowed me to conduct a fieldwork from november 2017 till march 2018 in the north-east, studying the practice of the national martial art (known as Muay Thai) among young professional children, in order to observe the peculiar phenomenon of boxing practiced in a delicate stage of life such as childhood.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It's a wonderful way to travel! You talk, drink, laugh creating a fantastic circle of friendships! Moreover, if you provide a room/couch/carpet instead of renting it, it means you really enjoy something that physically gives you nothing! And, in my opinion, this is no small thing.

Interests

I really love playing and listening to any kind music, from Miles' Davis soft melodies to much more intense rhythms of heavy metal, among others. I have been playing electric bass for 10 years, drum kit for a couple of years and sometimes i enjoy playing a plastic didgeridoo i bought in a remote village in southern India (next time i'll make sure to buy something more typical). I'm passionate about movies (an authentic nerd) and books. I love animals of any kind and shape, and maybe only who knows me well could say how much i love dogs, especially my little lazy beagle Mia, who's like my daughter.
I like manual labour (it's either a good physical training and gives satisfaction) but also tasks that stimulate creativity and imagination. I've tried many sports such as football, snowboarding, swimming, athletics, but the one i felt in love with is definitely Muay Thai, which iv'e been practicing for almost 4 years so far.
