About Me

My name is Alex.
I'm 24 and I come from north-eastern Italy: I grew up in a village near Udine, which is a town an hour away from Slovenia and Austria. Nowadays I live in Brussels, Belgium.

In the past I have worked as a bartender, babysitter, teacher, hostess, sales manager and ice-cream seller to pay my tuition fees and move from town to town on my own. I've been in the USA (Texas and California), Austria, Slovenia, Greece, Spain, Belgium and the Netherlands, plus I have lived for 5 months in Lapland.

As of today, I write for blogs and private clients and I work as a social media consultant for an important European agency. Indeed, I'm managing two big socio-political campaigns for the European Commission.

In addition, I work as a Communication officer for an NGO here in Brussels.

I speak Italian, English and German (mostly as a bi-tri-lingual level); I understand pretty good French and Spanish and I can read cyrillic Serbo-Croatian. I am studying as a self-taught student both modern Greek and Farsi.

I suffer from an addiction to Red velvet cake, home-made pizza and healthy Italian and exotic food in general (I am pretty good with Chinese, North African and Persian food), but I've recently developed a food intolerance that is slowing me down on my way to eating all the food on Earth.
I would describe myself as chatty, energetic, responsible, caring and friendly. I'm a Master of Karaoke and Dry Humor.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm sorta artsy: I love literature and exotic music (from the Balkans to China) and I have been a dancer (of all kinds and types) since the age of 4. I'm a painter and I also enjoy writing poetry and other pretty serious stuff about politics, economics and philosophy. I once proudly appeared in print as the winner of Tiziano Terzani’s National Award for Teenagers and writer of a contribution to dr. Irene Bolzon’s book.

I'm into all kinds of quality music: if you tell me that a song is worth my attention, I'll for sure give it a try.

I love movies, from old-fashioned to modern ones. However, my favourite movie is "Full Metal Jacket". NO DUBTS. Other films that:
1. literally made me cry for their beauty are Apocalypse Now, Y Tu Mama Tambien and Tom à la Ferme.
2. actually have the best visuals ever are King Cobra and Spring Breakers.

I have a crush on all the franchise of Star Trek, plus I love GoT, True Blood, The Deuce, The Handmaid's Tale, Alias Grace, London Spy, Queer Eye (both the original and the new one, 'cause WHY NOT?), Mozart In The Jungle, Stranger Things, Mindhunter, Neo Yokio, Tokyo Ghoul, 11.22.63, BoJack Horseman, Freaks and Geeks and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
K, I'm obsessed with TV shows.
Sorry Not Sorry.

My favourite books? I've plenty of them!
My favourite book of all times is defo "Rien the grave" by Justine Levy. Love love love.
Other "ALL-TIME FAVS" are: Eleven Minutes by Paulo Coehlo, Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden, White Nights by Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Let the right one in by John Lindqvist, The Hunchback of Notre-Dame by Victor Hugo, Les Fleurs du Mal by Charles Baudelaire and Les Yeux Jaunes des Crocodiles by Catherine Pancol. At the moment I'm having an unhealthy obsession with pulp novels: #sorrynotsorry

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I survived to a snowstorm, a bear and a "Weird Dude In The Woods" in the middle of an excursion through Finnish Lapland.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am proficient in friendship and quality time, which invariably mean free hugs and laughs together.
I can cook, tell jokes and be quiet and/or loud when required - mmh, that does sound like I'm an effing dog, rather than a human.
I'm great for a chat while drinking some wine or sipping some tea, but also for a wild night out partying and chugging gin tonics.
I have plenty of stories to tell.
