About Me

ABOUT ME

I'm a very open minded person, and even though I might seem a little shy at first I love to share my experiences and interests with people and having fun with them.
My curious eyes are always wide open and I love to meet and see new people, places and realities.
I'm a Japan freak, a cat lover and I consider myself an hybrid half scientist-half artist still figuring out which side of me I'd like to follow the most... I love to travel and I just decided to do it more often :-)
I think that the best way to travel is by experiencing the places with the locals, and this is one of the reasons why I joined Couch Surfing.

When I'm not working, I love to go out on my own during the day, sitting in a café reading a book or a magazine or strolling around the city (when Belgian weather allows) with my sketchbook in my bag and to party with friends at night.

I love music, and that's why you can always see me walking around with my headphones, I feel that life can be even more amazing sometimes with the right soundtrack... For the same reason, I love to dance on electronic music in clubs and go to concerts.

PHILOSOPHY

Changes every month... Right now I'm in a "Time will tell" mood :-)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'd like to see the world, but I think that the best way to do it is to meet and spend time with the locals... That's my ideal way of traveling! I also would like to show my beautiful city to people... Gent is not a popular touristic destination but it's so awesome! I'm in a "Spread the Gent love" mission :D

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None so far! But I have quite a few friends that love the couchsurfing experience so I can't wait to try it out for myself!

Music, Movies, and Books

Everything Japanese from literature to movies, comics (manga)and cartoons (anime). I don't have a favorite book at the moment but lately I'm reading everything from Haruki Murakami. I also love German and English literature.

As for music, I listen mainly to indie/alternative rock and electronic at the moment but I like a lot of stuff (blues, hard rock, new wave, 70s rock). I also like classical music, with a soft spot for Beethoven and Rachmaninov piano concertos.

Movies... stupid to say, but pretty much everything as long as it's good! :D Comedies, Thrillers, Sci-Fi you name it, but I have a tendency to like classics and independent/low-budget movies and look down on blockbusters... I enjoyed Spiderman and Batman though! ;D
Three recent favorites: Lost in Translation, The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Moon.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Alone in Kyoto, walking through the garden of a temple I was so overwhelmed by the beauty and the peace of that place that I was moved to tears

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach Italian :D, drawing with watercolor and ink, cooking (Italian!) and of course Biology :-)
I want to learn... Everything! But mainly languages: Dutch should be a priority since I live in Flanders, but I'd love to improve my rusty German and learn some Japanese

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Nepal, Netherlands, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
