Présentation
À propos de moi
I'm a Computer Science student attending the University of Maryland. I'm of Puerto Rican descent and I enjoy museums and natural sites. I just joined Couchsurfing, and I have never Couchsurfed before.
Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing
I'm looking to start traveling abroad as means of finding a place I can call home. I intend to emigrate out of the United States eventually for a new country in a few years, and I'd like to travel and experience other cultures to figure out where I want to settle down.
Couchsurfing should help me cut down on the cost of the whole "finding myself" thing while allowing me to stay in local neighborhoods and make friends.
Centres d'intérêt
I'm deeply interested in global politics and international relations. I've completed a program with my university on globalization and I'm interested in understanding the process for myself. Issues of sovereignty and nationalism are things I'd like to explore on my trip.
I also have an interest in technology and technological progress. I am a programmer both in profession and hobby, and I like to work with both embedded hardware and any sort of software. I support the free software movement and I'm familiar with both the Windows and GNU/Linux operating systems.
I'm also a bit of a gamer, preferring strategy titles of the real-time and turn-based variety. Games I play frequently include Europa Universalis IV, Planetary Annihilation, and Team Fortress 2.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue
I've hung out on the rooftops of a few buildings, despite those buildings not necessarily having rooftops meant to be hung out on top of. The views from said rooftops are usually pretty awesome.
Enseignez, apprenez, partagez
I can share stories about hackathons, startup culture, volunteer work, and my university. I'm very familiar with GNU/Linux, so if you're thinking about making the switch for whatever reason I can get you comfortable with most Unix-style CLIs and the capabilities of your package manager.
I can also probably teach some HTML and basic coding, though you'd probably be better off learning from somebody whose code isn't entirely spaghetti.
As for actually travel-relevant things? I'm the student, not the master!
Ce que j'aimerais partager avec mes hôtes
I can do some IT troubleshooting for you if requested. I like problem solving and messing around with technology of any age and type, and while I can't guarantee a solution 100% of time, I know enough that I might be able to help you fix a broken PC or install something unfamiliar. Mechanical work is probably out of my league though.
