About Me

Born in London, but by the time I was in my late teens I knew that I HAD to travel. That has developed into a big part of who I am, and not in a clichéd way. We only get one life and we'll never experience everything, but why not try?

I'm proud to say that every day I work towards being the best version of myself. For the past 3 years I've lived in France, absorbing another culture and language, and learned to enjoy the process of learning, be it languages or on a professional path.

I strongly believe in location independence; having a say in where you live and work; and not having the job dictate it to you.

My passion for language learning and learning in general, combined with my desire to do something I enjoy every day has lead me to my current project of building a web application for English learners who have moved to the UK and are struggling understanding native speakers. From technical challenges to business decisions, I'm trying to thrive on them and the experience they bring. I've also made several YouTube videos on British English and the culture: https://www.youtube.com/britnchipsenglish

I'm currently reading Fluent Forever, by Gabriel Wyner, and really excited about taking his method for language learning and applying it to a new language later this year. Maybe Chinese?

I love getting into the nitty-gritty of things and I am currently having fun learning how to use my first mirrorless camera. I'm keeping it on manual as much as possible ;). Sometimes I vlog, sometimes I make mini-films. Here's my YouTube channel for that: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7dUg3m9dD3nRqb5joq2crQ.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've friends who've had the most wonderful experiences meeting people on CS and who've become their close friends. In 2017 I started hosting in my flat in Montpellier, France - a city I love - and met some great people.

I want to make some happy memories by learning about the people I host or would host me and to gain a new perspective on life each time.

Interests

Location independence, travelling, photography, learning languages, filming techniques, self-improvement, entrepreneurship, hiking, swimming, drinking a beer on a French terrasse, football (soccer), badminton, tennis...

Enjoy the journey and not just the destination.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm really into Chill Hop, but like most genres of music depending on my mood.
I like films that cover serious topics and make you think, but also those that are just downright stupid. I'm a fantasy lover (comic book films, sci-fi, Game of Thrones...).
I don't read enough but these days when I do they'll be non-fiction books on something to improve your life e.g. business development, language learning techniques, habit development, etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Camped out under the stars in the Sahara desert in Morocco in 2013.

In 2018 I've basically been on the move every month so far!

Teach, Learn, Share

I am very proud to say that I am fluent in French, so if that's one of the things you're learning, I'd be happy to help you with that! And English, of course ;).

Intellectual conversation!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I could try and cook something British for you, beat you at pool, or just my company.

I pack quite light so I can help you with packing tips to make life easier on the road :).
