About Me

Hello! My name is Alex, I come from Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto which is located in the province of Messina. It is a small city with a lot of monuments and historical buildings. I'm twenty-six years old student of the university of Messina in the department of history and philosophy. In my family there are four members. My mother and my father, Sara and Angelo and my twenty-one year old sister Chiara. My family and I love living in Barcellona city because it is very close to my parents work locations. My father works at the Raffineria Meditteranea of Milazzo as an operator in making metal, while my mother works as a primary school teacher. On the other hand, I have studied Architecture and Interior Design in high school.
As a lot of people say “all the roads lead to Rome” but via Roma in Barcellona leads to the Seme D'Arancia monument. The Seme d’arancia is a sculpture of an orange seed on a scale 100.000.000:1. It’s a very important symbol for Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto, because a big production of oranges was made years ago and even today the city continues to export them. The Seme D'Arancia was realized by Emilio Isgrò. It is an "implantation of tufa, resin, citrus, volcanic scoria" located opposite the old railway station. It is also intended to symbolize the history of the city too. The sculpture evokes a deep impression... it's something you must see!
