We are a married couple, taking a year out of our working lives to follow our passion and travel the world. Alex was born in Canada, but raised in England, and Beata is Polish, but now lives in England. Naturally, travelling is in our blood. We are both Civil Engineers by trade, and will no doubt return to Engineering once (if) we lose the travel bug.

We are both very active people, and don't like to sit still for long. Whenever we visit somewhere new we are always looking to make the most of the experience. As engineers we are drawn towards major cities, and love to visit the bustling cities that never stop. however we openly admit that our passion is nature. Whether that be hiking through a national park, or a close encounter with a giant animal, there is something special about wildlife.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

Whenever we're travelling, as well as checking out all the tourist hotspots, we really enjoy finding the little gems off the beaten path. We're hoping that by couch surfing we will discover places that we would never have stumbled across otherwise. We believe that you don't truly experience a place until you've met and spent time with the locals. Hopefully we will spend the next year meeting and creating friends from all corners of the world.

Intereses

Alex is obsessed with sport, if it’s on he’ll watch it, regardless of whether he knows the rules/team/sport or not! He’s dragged Beata to an increasing number of live events, & she’ll begrudgingly admit she’s loved them.

Beata is a mountain girl, she loves to hike & climb & is happiest in the mountains. She has a passion for languages too, after mastering English she is also learning Italian, Spanish & Russian.

We’re both very active & like to cycle, swim & play sport together. Of an evening, especially in the winter we like to watch a film, we’ve come out of the box set world as we ended up losing days without realising!

Música, películas y libros

We’re both into movies, especially thrillers with a twist. Alex has managed to get Beata into action movies, which means that Alex will watch a romantic comedy with Beata (although I think she’s almost fully converted to action!)

Beata likes reading first person accounts of factual events, especially of women travelling the world & reporting back on different countries. Alex likes a good crime thriller, but may or may not have read the entire Harry Potter collection...one day Beata will read them...maybe to the kids!

Alex still longs for the days of 90s Brit Pop/Indie culture, still no one has bettered Oasis in his eyes. Beata recently discovered her passion for Salsa & has taken up classes for beginners, but hoping to improve once we get to South America. To relax and unwind she likes instrumental pieces & jazz.

We both tend to stick on the radio & listen to what’s new, rather than searching for our favourite tunes.
