Overview
About Me
I'm an American student spending a year abroad, hoping to see as much of the world as I possibly can. I'll be studying English literature, history, and film at Goldsmiths, University of London, but I'll be doing my best to spend my weekends exploring Western Europe.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have intense wanderlust, and there's nothing I'd love more than to make some friends during my travels! I'm always looking for friendly faces with whom to share my experiences.
Interests
I'm a big foodie. If we ever meet, chances are we'll wind up sharing a meal and I'll try just about anything once. But I especially love 'traditional' foods - in Germany? Hit me up with a bratwurst. In Italy? Pasta, please. India? Who makes the best tikka masala? I LOVE FOOD.
I also do a lot of reading, being an English major. I'm focusing on Early Modern drama (Shakespeare, Marlowe, Jonson, etc.) and Modernism (Joyce, Woolf, Eliot, etc.). They're very different, but they're both styles I'm passionate about.
As for history, I'm focused on about 1900-1950, especially the world wars and their causes/effects in Germany.
For film, I'm studying analysis and history, but I'm very interested in the production side of the industry and hope to pursue that interest while I'm abroad.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like all music, but especially folk music and Americana. My favorite artists are James Vincent McMorrow and Mumford & Sons.
My favorite movie is Moulin Rouge. I'm a sap.
I wouldn't be who I am today without Harry Potter, but my favorite book definitely has to be Atonement by Ian McEwan.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Frankly, I think the most amazing thing I've done was deciding to leave home for a full year. It would have been so much simpler to stay home and complete my major and minors quickly. My credits would have transferred more easily and I wouldn't have to worry about getting it all done in my final year of school, but I decided to pursue my dreams instead, and travel. I definitely think I'll be better for it.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm an optimistic person who loves life - hopefully I can share an enjoyable weekend with my hosts and give them as much out of the CS experience as I know they'll give me.
