About Me

Spent the best part of the last four years living in New Zealand and just moved to Canada.

I accidentally became someone who travels a lot after going to NZ for "a few months". I suppose the best way of describing myself is that I am a comfortable and easy going person. I'm very good at taking even very serious things and making them lighter. I enjoy making life as easy for everyone around me as possible. I used to work in the radio industry back in the UK.

I'm interested in yoga; football (soccer); most sports; outdoors things; snowboarding/skiing; pubs; food; exploring; good people...

I once fractured a rib at a village fete in the UK. Oh and within a few hours of being in Japan I accidentally had a private Buddhism ceremony performed by a monk.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Several friends had recommended it to me as a brilliant way to meet new people when in a new place. Having just moved to Vancouver, it seemed the best time to try it.

Music, Movies, and Books

I've tried to list some favourites below. But like all things I don't think it's really representative of everything I like. I'm open to so many genres and styles of things. For example I have a massive weak-spot for rom-coms, but would I ever list them as my favourite film? Probably not. I also absolutely adore stand up comedy, and am more likely to binge on a stunningly good television series, but they don't really fit in these categories...

Music:
The Strokes
Odesza
Mystery Jets
Bruce Springsteen
Arcade Fire

Movies:
Untouchable (Or: The Intouchables)
City of God
Good Will Hunting
The Departed
Jurassic Park
The Big Sick

Books:
A Man Called Ove
Yes Man
The Great Gatsby

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I did a trek to Everest Base Camp in Nepal earlier this year, but one part of it is perhaps the most amazing thing I've done. Near Base Camp there is a mountain called Kala Patthar which I climbed to the top of going against every basic instinct and near complete exhaustion. The views were spectacular, but the climb itself was by quite some distance the most rewarding thing I've ever done.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm one of those people who doesn't have a specific skill, but I've experienced a wide range of things and I'm good at helping people with just about anything. And I'm open to a lot of new experiences and will take on most things.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a pretty decent cook.

But I mean, aside from that... I think I'm just a nice person to have around. I like to think I'm a warm, fun and kind person who's pretty clean and tidy. I enjoy making people laugh and looking at me with a disappointed face from a terrible pun.
