About Me

I'm an easy going, calm guy who's always down to get out there and do something fun.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think traveling should be more than booking a hotel room and visiting UNESCO World Heritage sites. When I travel, I want to dive head first into the culture and lifestyle of that region/area. I want to make bonds with awesome, like-minded people and talk about our cultures, experiences, differences, similarities and stories -- of course, all while having a good time.

Interests

love nature. Being able to get away from everything and just going into the woods, the beach, desert, forest -- soaking it all in. That's my paradise.

Loving nature entails hiking, which I love but my feet hate.

Photography. I love the idea of capturing a small moment of life… feelings, smells, views, sounds… then being able to look back on it and re-live it for a second is something unique to me.

I can "play" guitar (what I really mean is I can strum some chords and play a few Beatles songs every now and then).

Treating my tastebuds to new foods as much as possible. Favorite foods are anything Italian or Latin, but I'm always open to trying different foods.

Music, Movies, and Books

I always dread this question as there's just too much to list

Music

I'd say my favorite genre has to be rock (Led Zeppelin, Cream, the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Queen, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd), although I will listen to anything as long as it sounds good.

Alternative is also a favorite for me. Stuff like Blink 182, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Radiohead, R.E.M., the Cure, Coldplay, Smashing Pumpkins, the Pixies, Weezer, U2, the Killers, Kings of Leon, the Strokes, Dinosaur jr, Travis, Beck, Talking Heads

'80s pop is somewhat of a guilty pleasure; also makes for great karaoke.

Old school R&B is another favorite. Marvin Gaye, Al Green, James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Luther Vandross

Jazz, classical, oldies, indie

I also collect records! You can see my collection here:

Movies

Ah, movies… where do I begin? Stanley Kubrick, Sergio Leone, Hayao Miyazaki, Steven Spielberg, Francis Ford Coppola, George Lucas, Alfred Hitchcock, Brian De Palma, Martin Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino, M. Night Shyamalan, Wes Anderson, Mel Brooks, James Cameron, Christopher Nolan, Ridley Scott, Tim Burton. I know that was broad, but I think that gives you an idea of what I'm into without listing 300+ movies on here.

Books

I'll list off the ones that had the most impact in my life: J.R.R. Tolkien's 'the Lord of the Rings', '1984' by George Orwell, 'The Big Sleep' by Raymond Chandler and 'The Sound and the Fury' by William Faulkner.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Climbed Mount Fuji (3,776 meters). It is the highest peak in Japan, and a volcano!

Teach, Learn, Share

Always willing to learn and grow. Language, skill, art, hobby, recipe. Whatever it is, I'm all ears
