Overview
About Me
I am a biologist with a deep environmental awareness and an insatiable desire for traveling. I have been a secondary teacher for almost 30 years now (10 more ahead) and I have raised two kids (about to finish university now). I used to go skiing (not much now) but I have taken up scuba diving instead. I love nature rather than big cities, but I still enjoy spending two or three days in those hectic places before heading for more relaxing destinations. My latest interest is yoga, I am starting to explore this discipline and enjoying its physical part, although I hardly understand the spiritual one.
On a final note, I am flexitarian. I am vegetarian while I am at home but I eat fish or meat when I am out.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
After traveling for a good number of years to so many different places, I have learnt that there is just one way to make every new experience even better: interacting with locals, listening to them and, if occasion arises, getting involved in their activities. Likewise, it is only fair to be willing to do at home what I enjoy being abroad; I would like to offer a bit of my space and my time to those with the same feeling.

Music, Movies, and Books
Not so clear about music, although I probably enjoy music from the 80s and 90s more than rap, hiphop or latino.
The English Patient is a movie I love, but I find at least 20 good ones every year. Marvel is good for popcorn which is a good thing to say.
I am a teacher and I love to learn, that's why I read books which could tell me things I don't know yet, like What animals Think and Feel by Carl Safina. In summertime, I enjoy reading novels. I love Asimov and Bradbury.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Diving with sharks, manta rays and green turtles in Komodo and Galapagos; sitting on a rock with my feet hanging at Grand Canyon, grabbing a salmon leaping out of the water in a Norwegian waterfall; staring at lions mating in Masai Mara; admiring wild orangutans in Borneo; sitting next to a wild Silverback at Bwindi Impenetrable Forest; snorkeling with whale sharks in Isla Mujeres; watching humpback whales jumping and twisting out of the water in Corcovado; raising two wonderful kids.
Teach, Learn, Share
I could share my little knowledge of a bunch of things that I have managed to acquire throughout my fifty something years.
I only teach teenagers, but I offer my help if you want to discover the place I live in.
I am always willing to learn what you wanted to share about your life and your country.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I have a two-storey apartment that I find comfortable where I have my bed (upstairs), a single bed and a double sofa-bed (downstairs). Everything is an open space (aside from the shower room) what means that you do not get much privacy. It might be compared with a dorm in a hostel.
I work on weekdays but I am free in the afternoon if you wanted some company.
