About Me

Im Alex, 24 years old from the UK.

Recently quit my job as an engineer to travel the world and work in some cool places. I enjoy embracing the local culture and meeting people from different backgrounds than myself.

Im very adventurous and like to try new sports, meet new people, experience new foods, language and culture.

Currently living in the ski resorts of Northern Japan and am hoping to travel in Japan after the winter season.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing seems a great way to meet new people in unfamiliar places. Im hoping that I will get to see and experience what the locals do by staying with someone who lives there.

Im still a relatively new traveller but have learnt to put my trust in strangers, people frequently surprise me and thus far this has never got me into bad situations.

Im also excited by the prospect of hosting people in the future when I have the resources to do so (I.e. A fixed address)

Music, Movies, and Books

Big fan of music, interested in pretty much everything but my favourite type of music is acoustic singer/songwriters. Frank Turner is one of my favourite artists.

Havent seen all that many movies, more an outdoorsy person and would prefer to be socialising or playing sports or cooking food with friends than watching movies.

Just got into reading after years of not touching a book, recently read shantaram which was amazing. Open to suggestions of great books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Quit my office job behind a computer with a big wage to explore the world with no money.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Im a pretty handy chef with experience in both western food and some Asian dishes, I really enjoy cooking for people and sharing good food (and wine).
