About Me

I'm a graduate student in Boston. I love learning languages and learning about different cultures. I love to wander around cities looking at architecture or eating new food, or hike in more rural places. I'm a big fan of art and history museums.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm a poor grad student. Secondly, it gives a change for connection that staying in a hotel just doesn't offer. I like touristy stuff, but it gets old, and sometimes you want to get to the nitty-gritty of what a place is like. Finding those holes in the wall and spots that locals find cool are what I live for.

Interests

Academically, I'm interested in learning about all cultures, religions, and politics with specific interest in Islamic societies in Morocco and Spain.

More generally, I like music, comic books, and a few television shows. Flags and maps are exciting for me. Art and History museums are a plus.

Music, Movies, and Books

General Hip-Hop head. I delve into some metal (Every Time I Die, Between the Buried and Me, August Burns Red), and more recently some UK electronic music.

I like psychological thrillers, sci-fi, and some political dramas.

I like ethnographic accounts of peoples life stories, broader cultural theory books, science fiction, fantasy, suspense/thriller. I like a good book!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I don't know about amazing, but I've really enjoyed volunteering in various ways, especially with refugee populations in the United States. I've set up homes, taught english, and volunteered and advocated for groups that desperately need it.

Teach, Learn, Share

I currently teach a biological anthropology course, so if you have questions about human or primate evolution, I could give you some good information. I am pretty well versed in geography, history, and political theory, so that's usually my go-to conversation.

Unfortunately, I don't know anything practical except some bike knowledge. If you need a language partner, or sometime to talk politics/cultural theory/hip hop/comic books/ etc. then I'm your man.

I'm pretty much an open book, so if you have a question, ask it, and if I don't know it, I'm sure I'll be interested in finding out!

What I Can Share with Hosts

A really shitty couch, and some information about the local area. Not much unfortunately! I'm pretty busy most of the time with school, so it's hard for me to participate in a lot of activities unless I really plan them into my schedule.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, France, Italy, Jamaica, Mexico, Morocco, Netherlands, Scotland, Spain

Countries I’ve Lived In

Russian Federation, United States
