About Me
Hi, I'm Alex an engineering student! I am from Sydney, Australia with a good Cantonese background (Hong Kong Parents). Currently I am doing an exchange program in Birmingham, UK hence i cannot be a host for Couchsurfing~~ nice to meet you! Please read about me, i hope it can reveal a lot about me because that is all i have so far (no references :( )
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have been told about it what this may offer and i believe it is the right medium for me in my travels. Seeing landmarks is one thing, meeting new people from new places with different cultures is another. I like the philosophy of Couch surfing, so here i am writing about myself.
I could always book hostels but i will never get to mingle with the locals and understand the culture as well as i could. I hope i could meet some amazing people around Europe maybe even life long friends!
Interests
Photography - It doesn't where you are, the home you have live in all your life or a new & mysterious place, there is always beauty and moments to capture
Science - Gives sense to my world and helping me interpret it with a more open mind rather than focusing on ourselves.
Nature - Love being in nature, from lying on grass to hiking. I do have a fascination for animal life.
Films - my favourites are usually serious, meaningful and creative
Food - I LOVE FOOD, I would like experience new flavours. Food is part of culture and it is one the favourite priorities when travelling :P
Music - I love the piano but I see myself as just an amateur (self taught)
Believe it or not I love maths LOL - I really like experimenting with methods of logic, to me like a playground. I believe that its not possible to not appreciate maths if you have seen my perspective in maths :P
Meditation - mmmmm something just i believe can change one's life.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Fav Artist ever -> Joe Hisaishi (search: summer - joe hisaishi)
Recently found I like music with a really good tune, something you can hum to
Movies: Spirted Away ( WATCH IT)
Books: hahaha not sure i need to read more books... maybe my favourite childern's books are roald dahl books. The Hobbit was pretty good!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
EXCHANGE!! I couldn't believe it when i realised i was leaving Australia (i have been living in the same house all my life) to go on a 20+ hrs flight all by myself and settling down with absolutely no connections at all!
That is not it, the most amazing thing i've done in exchange would be my trip around Europe via trains for about 17 days visiting Germany,Belgium, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Hungary and Austria. Most of this time I was travelling by myself and meeting people along the way!
Teach, Learn, Share
Never stop learning~~ I don't mind talking and sharing my view on anything, i like to keep an open mind. I could share my ideas, experiences and even ideals. I love to teach people by inspiration rather then telling them what is right and wrong. That is one of my ideals, i dont believe in what is right and wrong as it is all perspective.
I can whistle well (well i think so) haha but its kind of embarrassing showing off unless i feel super comfortable
What I Can Share with Hosts
My cooking skillz ;) ;) I can cook (meaning love to eat) Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Western and baking (from cakes to brownies)! I have to say I do a lot of experimenting in the kitchen so many foods that I have no idea if there is a name for some things a make :P I could play 2 pieces on the piano, but it's just a hobby XD
I guess the best thing i can share is the moment, the atmosphere and the company of another.
