Hello. I am a carpenter who lives in the South Island of New Zealand. Originally from Preston, England I moved to NZ with my family when I was 11.
The last 4 years I have been doing seasonal work at Scott Base, Antarctica and then building back in NZ during the off season.
I am currently travelling down through Europe, across Turkey and up to Georgia, with a tent and a little car. Starting in June and finishing mid August.
This is my first substantial solo travel experience and so is a little daunting and very exciting.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think this may be a good way to meet locals and good, like minded people on my travels. To get a better appreciation of the areas I am travelling through.

Interests

These are very varied. I enjoy being outdoors. I have a love for history. And I always like learning new things. And I wouldn’t say no to a few beers either.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like a wide variety of music. But especially classic rock, progressive metal, Brit pop.
Books I mainly read non-fiction and especially history related topics.
And for movies, anything other than horror!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was proud to qualify as a builder.
Also doing many seasons working in Antarctica, including in the winter I think is a very special privilege.
