About Me

I'm an artists who works with young children and I am currently completing my certification for Substitute teacher and working towards a single-subject teaching credential. When I am not working I like to paint, illustrate my zine and comic book. My favorite activities include roller skating, hiking, visiting dog parks, crystal shops and bookstores. I'm a retired Roller Derby skater who skated with the Los Angeles Derby Dolls from 2006-2012 and I love to volunteer with that organization whenever possible. In addition I am an animal advocate and have rescued and supported TNR programs in my area.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Let's be honest, everything is SUPER expensive and I am an artist. I grew up in the Bay Area but now I can't afford to spend a night there just to get my things out of storage in the Mission. Can you help me out? Another reason I want to Couchsurf is because it give me the opportunity to connect with other people who might have similar interests and be into the same things I am. Who doesn't want to have an opportunity to meet fun, like minded people in other cities? I like adventure, I am kind and pretty easy going, I try to bring positive vibes everywhere I am.

Music, Movies, and Books

I grew up in the Bay Area in the late 90's and was very involved int he DIY punk scene in Berkeley which shaped my worldview greatly. I became involved with the 920 Gilman project and then when I moved to LA i continued the tradition of community building and zine-making. I love all music really except mainstream pop music.
Some of my favorite books include:
Pedagogy of the Oppressed by Paolo Friere
Catherine Dunn's Geek Love is a favorite
The House on Mango Street Sandra Cisneros

I also love anything by Alejandro Jodorowsky or Pedro Almodovar oh yeah and David Lynch

El Topo
Holy Mountain
Santa Sangre
Dune

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've helped raise 3k for AIDsWalk LA 2010
Volunteered at Kitten Rescue Org and fostered kittens and bottle babies
Helped promote Banked Track Roller Derby

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm interested in activism and as I mentioned before working towards becoming a full-time single subject Art Teacher for kids k-12.

I can also teach you how to roller skate, do basic yoga, meditate and read your tarot.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my love for art, my passion for compassion and any holistic medicinal information that could help you heal yourself emotionally, physically and consciously. I've also been known to gift friends and patrons with unique art pieces.
