About Me

I am doing my PhD in Middle Eastern History in the 20th century. During my studies I lived in Madrid and Buenos Aires in order to improve my Spanish and figure out Latin American perspectives on Europe. I am a bit active in politics and adore travelling in order to meet new and various people. Initially, I wanted to go by the Trans-Sibirian Railway to China but, alas, the doctoral programme prohibits to spend that much time abroad. Nevertheless, I am looking forward to moving to London the upcoming summer for a longer research stay. Anyway, as long as I am in Berlin I would be happy to host you.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

During my last trips to Bulgaria and St Petersburg I recognised that a lot of people used courchsurfing and that they met inspiring people almost every time. As well, my former flatmate is on CS and invited some people to our apartment. I really enjoyed to spend time with them.

Interests

I really like to spend time in historical and art museums and at cultural events.
In the evening, I am used to have some beers or wine with friends. Sometimes, I am happy to experience the Berlinesque club scene.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like a lot of films. From the Film noir of the 1960s made by Italians and Frenchs through to contemporary European, American, Korean, Iranian and Israeli films. Beside the films by Lars von Trier, I really admire the films by Xavier Dolan.

My studies allowed me to read a broad range of genres of different eras. So, I had to go through a couple of ancient and medieval tracts. However, I really liked to books by Émile Zola and a several European authors of the 20th century. Especially, steam punk literature enamoured me recently.
