I love to read, and I try to do a lot of it. I like fantasy, science fiction, memoirs, some history, short stories and poetry. Vonnegut, "The Hobbit," Mary Oliver, "The Odyssey," Murakami, "Leaves of Grass," the Oresteia, "The Forever War."

I like older movies. Kurosawa, Ozu, and Mizoguchi are some of my favorite directors, although I have a soft spot for old special effect films, particularly the works of Ray Harryhausen.

I like Belle & Sebastian, Fleet Foxes, and Jean Sibelius.
