About Me

Hi there!

I am traveling Europe for three months, looking to adventure, laugh, learn, and make new friends. I enjoy meeting new people, cooking and sharing a meal, exploring new places, and trying just about anything new. I am starting in Spain and traveling for a few weeks with my younger sister Megan. Meg is a student who is currently doing a semester abroad in Ireland. She studies Theater and Anthropology and enjoys watching British TV Shows, seeing plays, and going to museums.

I'm new to couch surfing so I don't have many references, but please don't let that scare you.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

This is my first experience using couch surfing. I've heard from friends that it is a great way to make friends and establish a global network. I'm very interested in connecting with people who actually LIVE in the places where I will be traveling.
I enjoy making new friends and learning about the culture and vibe of a city from its residents.

Interests

Outdoors pursuits in including hiking, kayaking, backpacking, scuba diving, skiing, snorkeling, swimming, biking, and all manner of things.

Music, Movies, and Books

I've an avid reader with many favorites. The most recent books I've read are: The Immortal Life of Herinetta Lacks, Sophie's World, and Eating Animals. I love the act of turning the pages of a book. I would definitely be interested in some book trades with hosts along my travels.

Music:
Favorite artists include: The Black Keys, Florence and the Machine, The Decemberists, Modest Mouse, The XX, Led Zeppelin, and Fleetwood Mac. Mostly I listen to Rock, Alternative, Blue Grass, Latin and occasionally rap and electronica (situation dependent).

Movies/TV that I've seen recently: House of Cards, Game of Thrones, The Wire, The Daily Show, Last Week Tonight. Birdman, Boyhood, ...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Collected spiders and scorpions across the Caribbean as part of a research project investigating biodiversity and island biogeography.

Lived in the Galapagos Islands teaching local and international high school students about the ecology and conservation of the region and diving with sharks in my free time.

Studied and lived for 6 months in Habana, Cuba.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am very open to organically learning what each individual has to offer: a new perspective, skill, or knowledge about a certain subject.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A good conversation with laughter,

If you want to talk about spiders, Cuba, the Galapagos Islands, or traveling in Latin America, I would be a great guest.

Countries I’ve Visited

Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Canada, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Saint Kitts and Nevis

Countries I’ve Lived In

Cuba, Ecuador, United States
