Overview
About Me
Hello! My name is Alex and I am from the United States (near Chicago). I am feeling more and more like the people I spend time with is more important than where I am.
I am a teacher and I’ve taught music, English, and Spanish. I am moving to Italy soon as well.
I like meeting and being with people, being outside, singing, language learning, physical activity, baseball, writing, crazy hypotheticals, and plant-based foods. I also recently started trying out dance.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Couchsurfing is the best way to learn about local cultures and to meet cool new people at the same time. I like trying new things and I love trying things that I hadn't imagined trying.

Music, Movies, and Books
Currently reading as of August 2025: Room on the Sea by André Aciman & Don’t Believe Everything You Think by Joseph Nguyen
I have the longest list of shows and movies to watch from friend recommendations.
I like a lot of music, I even studied music in university, but I don’t often pay attention to the lyrics. Mika and Michael Jackson are my favorite singers. I also like Lady Gaga, Marco Mengoni, and Shakira to name a few. The language of a song is not important to me.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have fed reindeer near Tromso, Norway on a Sami reservation. Loved those reindeer :)
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach English, Spanish, and something about music. I can teach you about the game of baseball. I can show you some foods that I eat that are healthy, plant-based, and foods that I enjoy.
I am open to learning many things and expanding my horizons. We all learn from everyone that we interact with. There are somethings I want to learn at some point like Italian, more dance, the way of life in Italy, how to sing higher and better control my voice, but I want to also learn things that I didn’t know I didn’t know or try something new that I wouldn’t think to try on my own.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can offer a cultural exchange, good and very open-minded conversations, and friendship!
Also, like I said in the other section, I can teach English, Spanish, and something about music. I can teach you about the game of baseball. I can show you some foods that I eat that are healthy, plant-based, and foods that I enjoy.
