About Me

Until recently I worked for an insurance company but I saved some money and quit my job in February to get a TESOL certificate and travel around India and Germany for 6 months with my girlfriend, Anna.
I am a musician too, playing solo and with my band, Stressechoes. We have toured Europe 3 times, mainly in northwest Germany.
Couchsurfing experience so far....
Lina - Bremen - 7th to 10th July 2015
Linus & Marine - Bremen - 10th to 14th July 2015
Theo - Berlin - 14th to 16th July 2015

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I had been recommended Couchsurfing by a few people I have met so far on my travels. It sounded like a great way to meet people and to travel. Now we've stayed with a few hosts, I love the fact we've met so many new, interesting people in such a short space of time! It's a great alternative to a sterile hotel, or even some hostels I've stayed in.

We will be in southern Germany through Workaway this summer and Couchsurfing seems like it comes from the same mindset - helping each other, exchanging ideas, getting to know new people and places.

I intend to make myself available as a host from September 2015 onwards, when I'll be in Cheltenham for about 9 months.

Interests

Music - mainly playing and listening to live music these days.
Football - I'm a very lazy Derby County fan but I like to watch anything really.
Politics/current affairs - I like to read interesting articles and try to follow what is going on. I'm trying to make myself more informed!
Food/cooking - I like to try food from different countries and normally cook from scratch everyday. I like trying new recipes.
Documentaries - I like watching long documentaries about bands or historical events and figures.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - mainly classic bands and singer/songwriter stuff. Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Radiohead, Neil Young, Bob Dylan. I like to watch live music too so some artists I like are unsigned - Adam Beattie, Riddle & The Stars, Tom Richardson, Elliot Mason.
Movies - I think my favourite is The Shining or The Godfather. I like Woody Allen films too. I'm not a fan of big, Hollywood blockbusters!
Books - I have got into Evelyn Waugh and PG Wodehouse lately.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Touring with my band in Germany - last year we played around 25 shows in 30 days around Bremen and the northwest. We met lots of cool people.

This summer Anna visited India and I saw wild elephants! We also went to a tribal funeral, which was a truly unique experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

I play the guitar to an intermediate level, and I have a qualification in teaching English. I can cook a bit too - if you like lentil curries or home-made coleslaw, I'm your man!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Music - I like to write songs and learn new ones. Passing a guitar around and having a sing-song is a great way to pass time and get to know each other.
English - I've recently got a TESOL qualification so I can help you to improve your English.
Cooking - I like to cook as I find it very relaxing

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, France, Germany, Ghana, India, Portugal, Spain, Thailand
