About Me

26yo graphic designer / illustrator / web developer from London. I'd say I'm pretty laid back and easy to get along with. Trying to live without a fixed address for a while and see as much as possible along the way. Plan for my next trip is to start in Vancouver and head south down the west coast and into Central America :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I was introduced by a friend when talking about my own trip and it appealed to me a lot. Less so for the free bed and more because I want to try and gain a little bit of local perspective from everywhere I visit. As much as I like seeing new places, I wouldn't really be experiencing them if I only talked to Australians in hostels (not that I don't love Australians).

So for the last few weeks that I was living in Barcelona I started hosting, met some awesome people and had some memorable experiences. I'd hope that I also learned a bit, both about being a good host and being a good guest!

Now I want to meet new people, get a taste for some new cities and cultures, challenge my perceptions of places I'm not so familiar with. I'll be trying to change some preconceptions about English tourists, we're not all obnoxious drunks ;)

Interests

Erm mostly normal stuff I guess: good food & drink, travel, new people, experiences, film, tv, music, football, skiing, design, photography, architecture, nature, walking, talking, sleeping, breathing, etc

Music, Movies, and Books

I'll dip in and out of most genres and go through different phases, but music I like tends to fall on the more chilled side.

Again, depends on the mood, but I try to watch a lot and go to the cinema often. I'll see anything directed by Tarantino, Nolan, Anderson, Scorsese, Coen Brothers - and obviously anything starring Nic Cage. Also love a good documentary.

TV: I could watch both Breaking Bad & Mad Men over and over. I watch lots of other series, but Game of Thrones & The Americans are the ones keeping my attention week-by-week. And I'm prone to making It's Always Sunny references.

Downside of all this TV/Film is I hardly ever read fiction. I think the one book I'll bring with me is Harry Potter (adventurous, right?) - in spanish though as I want to learn properly before I get to South America...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think I'm still working on it.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can tell you anything you want to know about Britain - people, lifestyle, culture, history, food, everything else - and hope to learn about your country in return.

I'm happy to chat about the challenges, logistics and (hopefully) fun of living & working on the road - maybe that's something you'd like to try too.

Of course, you're welcome to practice speaking English with me. Or even Spanish, though I would be practicing also.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Happy to share some cooking - I worked as a chef in France for 6 months so I could show you some French and English food. Or trying some local meals could be fun too.

Though I'd probably be happier eating out with you - that way I can see a bit more of the city at the same time.

I also have a pretty huge media collection that you're welcome to raid.
