About Me
I have been volunteering in Thessaloniki for a month, and am currently taking a little holiday while I plan my next move and look for somewhere more long-term to stay in the city.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To meet like-minded locals who are willing to show a me a slice of their city (by day and/or by night!) and perhaps with whom I can exchange thoughts, experiences + ideas in dingy bars etc. The usual.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: dub; reggae dub; soul; funk; disco (Western, African + Middle Eastern); rhythm and blues; 90's hiphop; latin american + cuban sounds; jazz; calypso; morna; ska; dnb; anything with a brass/sax part; + I also have a deep appreciation for music from the Western and Middle Eastern classical traditions.
Books: novels that examine the human condition generally, in particular those that take figures on the fringes of society or deeply flawed characters as their primary subject matter. (University put a stop to reading for pleasure for the last few years, so I cant name any off the top of my head.)
On the academic side: post/de-colonial theory + history; gender studies + feminisms (regional, political etc); political theory and philosophy; public space theory; cultural theory generally; philosophy (traditional + postmodern); the politics of translation; literature + textual analysis, especially Middle Eastern literature + poetry.
My film education sadly remains in its nascent stage. No superhero movies please.
