About Me

Hi there!

My name is Alexander. I grew up in Mariupol, Ukraine. The city was settled by Greeks who happened to be my ancestors. When I turned 15 I went abroad for the first time, I went to the United Kingdom for school for two weeks. Next year I went to a summer camp in Greece for two weeks to see the land of my ancestors.
When I turned 17, I had a great opportunity to become an exchange student in a High School in Maine, United States. It was an amazing experience! I had a chance to interpret for the Governor of State and play for the High School Soccer team, I even scored in States Final!
I got back to Ukraine and did some volunteer work then enrolled to Marine Academy in Odessa, Ukraine. I've studied their for one year and fled to United States for good.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Well, I've met a few people who did it. I've got to know them a bit and was impressed with the idea of travelling with low cost while exchanging their culture and traditions to the open world. Empowering oneself with such a knowledge and such an experience is one of the best things that can be done in life I believe. Also it's important for me to build friendship relationships with courageous, outgoing and open minded people as I am.

Interests

I do sports, my favorite one is soccer. I like water activities just as well as hiking the mountains. Honestly saying, I have a broad spectrum of interests, I'm open to many things.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like Mozart, he is my favorite one. Occasionally I listen the songs of rock bands. The other kind of music is also fine with me as long as it is not a heavy metal.

I don't really have a movie that I consider my favorite one, but my favorite director is Luc Besson.

"Call of the Wild", "White Fang" by Jack London
"Around the World in Eighty Days" by Jules Verne
"Robinson Crusoe" by Daniel Defoe
I like adventurous books, I believe they highly influenced my personality.
