About Me
Why does this feel so much like a dating site, lol? Anyway I am just a libra who like long walks in the woods and a good mojito...not always in that order...but sometimes in that order.
I was born and raised in New York and currently trying to get over not living there anymore. I am currently an English teacher in Charlotte, NC. I teach 120 7th graders so we can say that is a bit of a roller coaster. Though I am lucky to say that, I love my students every day and like them most days.
I am also on a mission to take a selfie with every Benjamin Franklin statue in the country (there a lot trust me), so far I have taken a photo with at least 10 of them. Most likely, if I am lucky enough to visit your city, a Ben Franklin statue is one of my pit stops.
Please note: my facebook name is Alex Coffee because I don't want my students to stalk me. But I promise Annie Sourbis is my real name.
Here is my facebook if you are interested: https://www.facebook.com/lasjdii I am happy to add you, just shoot me a message saying that you are from couch surfing!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Growing up I didn't have too many opportunities to travel, so as I am getting older and more independent I am taking every opportunity to travel.
After my first (very stressful) year of teaching, I decided it was time to see the West Coast, so I embarked on a month-long-solo strip across the United States. The most memorable moments of my trip were with my couch surfing hosts. Now I try to stay with hosts because the perspective and the exchange of ideas that you get from fellow couch surfers is invaluable.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Over the summer I embarked on a month-long solo cross-country trip. It was the first time I've left the east coast and it was a trip full of incredible experiences.
In our senior year of high school, we were allowed to embark on a final project for the last 6 weeks of school. While most of my classmates took the opportunity to obtain their first internship or to dedicate their time to a charity...my best friend and I decided to create a prom dress out of duct tape. Check out my photos to see the dress or see the link below.

Teach, Learn, Share
Teach - Since I am teacher...I would have expected to have more things listed here..... Well if you've always wanted to have an in depth conversation on the racial issues in To Kill a Mockingbird. Here I am!
I can also help proof read any resumes that may need editing.
I can also help lay out any trips to New York City for any budget or length of time.
Learn - I am excited to learn about what your neighborhood has to offer. What's the culture like and where are the best spots to grab something to eat, a cup of coffee, or relax.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can almost always promise a good conversation and a few laughs.
I am also happy to help out with cooking, walking a dog, or cleaning up. I am also known to be good with fixing things around the house.
Like I said before if you are planning on visiting New York City or Charlotte, I can help you plan your trip. I can help ensure that your trip of any length or time or size of budget is a packed and fulfilling trip. No promises that you won't be eating 6 meals a day on your trip though.
