About Me

Hello fellow couchsurfer!
My name is Alex, I am from Québec, in Eastern Canada and here is what you need to know about me:

I'm a traveller before anything else. I love discovering new places, live different cultures and meet people from around the globe.

I love natural places like mountains, rivers, lakes, glaciers, valleys, etc.
I love hiking, camping, kayaking, being in the woods, etc. I find peace in nature.
I also enjoy discovering new cities but I would rather spend much of my time in the countryside.

I finished my Bachelor degree in Geography of Environment and plan on doing my Master eventually. Before doing so, I want to travel a bit more so I work in an insurance comapny to pay my plane tickets.

I am a positive guy, smiling and laughing as much as I can. I am joking about a lot of stuff and don't take things so seriously. If you enjoy good dark humor, we will have a blast together!

If you look for a genuine experience around the city, that you want to go out and that you are willing to walk a lot, you are welcome to my home. If you only want to hop in to have a free couch and not go out and/or talk and share good time with me, I'd rather host someone else. If you read my profile until here and agree with what I just said, drop a "tabarnak" in your request so I know you are serious about coming here!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to share life experiences and knowledge with people from all around the globe. When I go to a new place, I enjoy to see it from the eyes of a local and see more than most touristic attractions. It's the same thing when I am in Québec. I love to show my place the way I see it everyday and give the people I host the best time in the city!

Couchsurfing is the best way to travel as it combines discovering new cultures, making new friends and travelling cheap. I think it is the best option for backpackers around the world.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy all kind of music, it always depend on the mood and the people I'm with. I mostly listen to rock and hip-hop. My favorite bands and artists are Les Cowboys Fringants (quebecker folk band), Pink Floyd, Muse, Blink 182, Alter Bridge, Our Lady Peace, Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, Bob Dylan, etc. and my favorite hip-hop artists are Eminem, Atmosphere, Hollywood Undead, Wu-Tang, Yelawolf. I also listen to slow, ambient, chill music like Moby, Mojave 3, symphonic orchestras and classical, especially when I work.

I LOVE all the universe of Tolkien (LOTR, The Hobbit, The Silmarillions, The Lost Tales of Middle Earth...)
Recently, I read The Pillars of Earth, A World without End and The Trilogy of the Century of Ken Follet and I loved how this author is able to mix history and romance in such an amazing way. Totally recommand it if you are into history / politics but you prefer romancized stories!

I am a cinephile, I really enjoy watching and discovering new movies. I watch at least one movie a week.
LOTR Trilogy, Interstellar, Cloud Atlas, Inception, Django, Forest Gump, The Matrix, Avatar, The Wall, Benjamin Buttons, Truman Show, Reservoir Dogs, Hunger Games and Into the Wild are just some of the movies I liked the most that just pop in my mind right now.

I also REALLY enjoy those cartoons: South Park, Rick and Morty, Big Mouth, The Simpsons and Family Guy :D

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2017-2018, a friend of mine and I crossed the whole Americas from Canada to Argentina with a 4x4. Here is our map-blog if you want to see all the places we've been through in this epic 6 months journey:

In 2019, I traveled through South-East Asia and crossed Vietnam on a motorbike. Here is my map-blog if you are interested:

Teach, Learn, Share

I am an open-minded guy who loves to meet new people with different points of view. I'm interested by the world, the environment, history, politics, music, renewable energies, astrophysics and science in general! I really enjoy being taught things I don't know and I really believe we can learn from anyone and at the same time we can teach anyone something!

What I Can Share with Hosts

What I expect from hosts is simple: a place to stay and some of your time to share experiences and talk about our travels, our passions and life in general. If you can take me to your favorite places in your country/region, this would be amazing too as I really like to discover new areas of the world. I love to visit a place through the eyes of a local, not a foreigner.

If I have the chance to host you, I want to take you to the best places around! Not necessary the most known ones, but my best ones. I am more than willing to explain you the history and evolution of my beautiful nation throughout a visit of the old center.
We can also have good talks about various subjects and especially about travels. I can take you to the best beers spots and we can cook some good meals together too!
