About Me

CURRENT MISSION Get to Paradise Falls! We are a husband and wife trying to travel the world when able. Unfortunately that hasn’t happened in a while because work and a new baby (born May 2018) have made it difficult to go beyond an hour or two from the house. ALEX: I’m a photographer and, while I love landscapes and travel photography, weddings and portraiture help pay the bills a bit better lol. JENNY: I'm an elementary school teacher who is German by birth, but I have lived in both Ireland and Australia. I love to travel as well and when not traveling, I am usually out for a run somewhere. We are both fit (Jenny: “not me as much these days, the baby kicked my ass and destroyed all my gains lol”), and if you would like a hiking/running tour of the area, then that could be definitely arranged, as well as some other outdoor activities, namely rock climbing. Regarding the languages we speak, Alex is fluent in English and the conversational Spanish and even better Arabic are his as well. Jenny is fluent in both English and German with beginner French too.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING I (Alex) have done it solo from time to time, and then last fall we couch-surfed as a couple in Krakow, Poland.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE Alex went to San Fermin (aka Running of the Bulls) as his very first CS experience, and it was an absolute blast. We've also hosted occasionally when the opportunity allows.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Our last major adventure together took us to the Kepler and Rakiura Tracks in New Zealand. If you get the chance to do them, they are amazing. We specifically recommend the Kepler for its challenge and gorgeous views and terrain. The Rakiura was...well...lots and lots of trees! And more trees. And more trees. Oh and just when you didn't think there could be any more trees, there's more. But it was still pretty :) Also, Alex has honed his Arabic and love for Levantine culture and cuisine in both Jordan and war-torn Syria.

Teach, Learn, Share

ALEX: If you are interested in some outdoors skills I can teach you basics on how to rock climb, tie some cool rope knots, and burn the hell out of food. Additionally, I am an accomplished photographer, so if you would like to get a better Facebook profile picture, I can definitely help :D JENNY: I'm a great healthy cook if that interests you (*healthy*, not strictly vegan or vegetarian), and I can also help you with your German if you are interested.
