About Me

Cardiff based practising Illustrator and part-time videographer, when I'm not behind the bar. Passionate about travel, with a life goal of visiting every country in Europe, and seeing as much of the world as possible.

Life-long Arsenal fan, but not fanatical. Most of us aren't, but we live in hope!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The best things in life are free. And I'm usually a little skint...

I've surfed (crashed) on a few randomers' couches in my time, and each one has been a unique experience. I'd say I'm quite good at it now, so this site looks perfect for me.

I have stories to tell and I'm always searching for the next experience and adventure. Meeting new people is fulfilling for me, and when I travel to a new place, I like to see it from a local perspective and discover things that other visitors may overlook. Learning about a new culture and absorbing a different way of life is what fuels my ambition when backpacking. I love to share stories and also open up about my own lifestyle back home. Plus who would turn down free hospitality and advice?

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Finding much current music I like is more of a struggle, but thankfully YouTube, friends, and my Dad's huuge CD/Vinyl/tape collections have exposed me to a wealth of amazing music from the golden past.
Generally into classic rock (60s/70s) inc prog rock, glam, funk, folk, heavy metal, psychadelia and more. 70s and 90s are favourite eras. Muse were the one back when I was 10 and Origin was out. I also like old skool hip hop, trip hop, dnb and acid rave. Also love classical (especially film composers and Phillip Glass), and also some weird shit too...try me.

Film: Bit of a film buff, but always struggled to list my top 10. I'd have to include Das Boot, Apocalypse Now!, Goodfellas, Koyaanisqatsi, Fargo, and The Terminator. Others worthy of a mention are Akira, Das Leben Der Anderen, Lord Of The Rings Trilogy, The Matrix, La Haine, Do the Right Thing, Run Lola Run, There Will Be Blood, Trainspotting, Psycho, plus anything by Kubrick, Spielberg, Fincher, Nolan and Studio Ghibli. Plus the Star Wars and Bond franchises, of course.

Books...huh? Mainly non-fiction, but: My Family And Other Animals, Adrian Mole, Slaughterhouse 5, Porterhouse Blue, A Short History Of Tractors In The Ukrainian. Oh, comics/graphic novels...do they count?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Setting off from a beach in Croatia, I walked up a mountain with no climbing gear and no footpath for most of the way, got to the top and crossed the (invisible) border into Bosnia and Herzegovina, all in about 4 hours.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share my couch, obviously. But one day I'd aspire to host other couchsurfers in my own home, when I have one large enough.

I am happy to offer local advice about Bristol and the surrounding countryside, what to see and do, and general travel advice in the West of England (Avon and Somerset). I can also also recommend places to go in London and things to do on a budget, and know my way around the capital (though it is changing at such a rapid rate).

I can teach English.

I can teach the basics to foraging mushrooms in the wild (Europe only), while staying safe and ecologically mindful!

I can teach you the drums! (BYO) :)

I can share ideas for recipes and tips for cooking.

Always up for socialising with new people, and networking with other creative/like-minded individuals. And love to jam with other musicians who can dig da groove!

If I'm not learning...I'm asleep!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I enjoy cooking and would love to help with any planned meals, or perhaps cook something special for you myself.

We could have a musical jam if you own a drumkit or a set of bongos :)

I can share my love for cinema and knowledge of the history of film, and recommend many must sees!

I could share a bottle of wine or two!
