About Me

I am a photographer and studio owner on Long Island. We do the usual weddings, corporate and family events, food, modeling portfolios, and staged photo event happenings. In addition to the studio I am the manager of sales technology for a large multinational in the beauty industry (fragrance, cosmetics, skin care and soon to be hair. I am an avid scuba diver (former instructor) and underwater photographer and videographer. I live on long Island about an hour out of NYC with my wife (30 years May 2016) and daughter, who started her first year of college in August 2016. I have a decent sense of humor and am very easy going, or so I am told.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I travel a bunch with my corporate job and try to make the most of these trips. I try to meet up with models and other people looking to trade time for some photographs. Often I do that in the hotels I am staying at for business, but that is getting kind of expensive and I really do not get a chance to see the great places I am visiting. I am hoping to expand my network of friends and create some great photo memories with my hosts. You can see my work at http://alexmwolffphotography.smugmug.com , http://concierge-photography.com/ , https://www.facebook.com/ConciergePhotographyLongIsland/?ref=hl , and https://www.facebook.com/alex.m.wolff.73 as well as at http://www.modelmayhem.com/1855432 . I am presently working on a multiyear project called In Rented Rooms.

Interests

Photography, of course. my favorites to shoot are food, underwater, models , nudes and implied nudes), figure studies, families and staged photo events. I scuba dive, travel and cook, and have a great time in photoshop. By nature, I am an enabler and am always happy to help people learn when I have something to offer.

Music, Movies, and Books

My music taste has a foundation in 60s - 90s rock. I enjoy classical, reggae, and some folk. My daughter makes sure I am current with contemporary music. Led Zeppelin, The Who, Stones, Alan Parsons Project, Crosby Stills Nash and Young, U2, the beatles, the list goes on and on.

I do more sci fi in my reading and viewing, I think 3 ofth ebest sci fi movies over the years are Blade Runner, District 9, the day the earth stood still. Most of my reading these days is from the years best science fiction anthology put together by Gardner Dozois each year.
