About Me

I'm a recent college graduate, currently in a gap year, looking forward to continue the journey to fulfill my life-long passion in becoming a physician, as I will be beginning medical school this summer. I'd say I am very easy going and laid back; always willing to try something new. I'm easy to talk to and relaxed, and simply love hearing other people's stories. I also try to see the best in people and try to experience life outside my comfort zone.

PHILOSOPHY

Live life to the fullest, grab opportunities when they come up, and appreciate the little things.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Although a new profile, I am not new to CS. I backpacked through Europe with my sister (under her CS profile: https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/marianay/references) and had such an incredibly rewarding experience meeting many amazing people, some who I am still in touch with. I also had the chance to go to a CS event in Madrid. This summer I will be traveling across Europe, as well as getting my own apartment, so that I can continue to Couchsurf and meet new people, hear their amazing stories, and share in new experiences.

Interests

Traveling. Sports - playing and watching. Duke basketball. Medicine. Hiking. Concerts. Swimming. Outdoors. Adrenaline inducing activities. New food. Local restaurants.

Music, Movies, and Books

Way too varied. I always seem to find a way to enjoy whatever I I read, watch, or listen to.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Backpacked across Europe for a month, Couchsurfing all the way through.
Gotten my passport stolen in Paris.
Swam in an extinct volcano crater lake in El Salvador.
Skydived.

Teach, Learn, Share

When you are traveling, less is always best. Leave your stuff at home, and go out and find new places and adventures. That being said, take a toothbrush at least.

I have taken pride in trying to learn a little bit about everything rather than a lot about one thing. I know enough to realize I do not know a whole lot in the grand scheme of things, but I feel I have many skills that I am willing to pass on and if I learn something in the process, all the better. I believe you can learn something from anyone.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories are the best form of currency when you travel.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Canada, El Salvador, England, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Jamaica, Spain, Switzerland
