Overview
About Me
I'm a pretty easy going guy, I'm definitely not hard to get along with, and am someone who enjoys the company of others. I recently graduated from UC San Diego and am trying to find a cozy spot to call home in or near Berkeley. I'm moving up to the Bay Area in August to start work as a Research Assistant at the Energy Biosciences Institute, as an employee of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and am looking forward to really being able to get a taste of what life has to offer in the East Bay.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Looking for some cool peeps to let me crash on their couch while I'm making the transition from San Diego to Berkeley for work.
Interests
I really enjoy listening to and producing music, as well as going to the occasional festival. I do my best to make sweet magical sounds with my synthesizer and drum machine and have managed to produce quite a nice collection of jams, which are posted on soundcloud.com/quietdreamz. I also enjoy hiking, reading, cooking, am an animal lover....all the regular stuff. :)

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Kona Triangle, Boards of Canada, Lone, Machine Drum, Nick Wisdom, Onra, Jessie Lanza, Toro y Moi, Pomo, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Neon Indian, Washed Out, Brother Tiger, Craft Spells, Wild Nothings, Black Lips, Tijuana Panthers, Mac Demarco, Allah-Las, Tame Impala, Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti, basically anything from Burger Records and so much more....
My interests in music basically boil down to smooth R&B influenced electronic music as well as the more dance'y stuff, dreamy chillwave, garage and surf rock. But also genres like jazz, lounge, afro-beat, prog rock, house, techno, and some of the other usual suspects. I'm definitely always interested in expanding my horizons.
Books: Anything from Isaac Asimov, Arthur C. Clark, Ray Bradbury or Kurt Vonnegut. Basically I really like old sci-fi. The Gods Themselves by Asimov and The Martian Chronicles by Bradbury are two of my favorites.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've hiked Mt. Whitney, the tallest mountain in the continental U.S..... Did it in a day with a group of friends(not recommended), and survived to tell my tale.
Teach, Learn, Share
For those interested in science, I always enjoy sharing an engaging conversation on topics like quantum physics, relativity, biochemistry, GMO technology and politics, as well as a range of other topics. I'm also a sucker for Sci-fi and love to talk about music :)
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share my sense of good humor and company as well as cook a fine meal for those who are interested. When it comes to cooking breakfast and dinner, my girlfriend can attest to the fact that I know how to really whip up a few flavorful dishes.
