One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've been pretty lucky over the years. I've been able to travel, meet amazing people, see amazing things, but sometimes the simple things are the most beautiful. I met one of my best friends on this site, and he hosted me when I first moved to Israel for a study abroad program. It was before the semester began, and we took a road trip to Eilat. When Gotye's "Somebody that I used to know" came on the radio, we all sang along until the lyric "and it feels so rough," at which point I had the very challenging pleasure of explaining what the word "rough" meant, both literally and in the context of the song. I know it's silly, but I will never forget that moment. Or the moment i saw a desert camel for the first time. Or the time I rode a taxi through Jerusalem with a freshly cooked turkey on my lap (longer story). Or years earlier when I spent New Years in London with a few of my closest friends. Or the time I was 16 and in Paris and ate snail for the first time as another member of our student tour group improvised a side-splitting monologue about mashed potatoes. I've been very lucky.
