About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I am spending a month in the beautiful country of Colombia! My mission is to meet some beautiful people to go on adventures and learn with, to practice my spanish, and to spend some time in the rich mountains and ecosystems of Colombia.

ABOUT ME

I am a film-making, tour-guiding, bicycle-riding British Pole.

You can check out my work on www.alexjanaszewski.co.uk

I am a person who thrives and gets my energy through other people, so amazing people is who i do, and strive to, surround myself with. I'm quite a curious person, so I'd love to meet people from as many places as possible, with different interests, and riddle them with many a question!

I used to be extroverted, but recently I have been discovering how wonderful it is to spend time in solitude. I find great joy in exploring the great outdoors and spending time amongst the glory of mother nature. Wild camping is one of my favourite things to do.

Although I have lived in the UK all my life, I come from a Polish background, and so am fascinated with learning about new languages and cultural traditions. I love to dance, cook, cycle, read, good music, bathe in the sunshine, meet people, and the great outdoors. I have lived in two big cities in my life and havent experienced raw nature enough, so id love to get out there!

PHILOSOPHY

My main philosophies are:

Always look beneath the surface .

Keep Learning.

Assume the best in people.

Music, Movies, and Books

movies - i absolutely love losing myself in beautiful cinematic landscapes! - requiem for a dream (the score is pretty mind blowing too!), amelie, solaris (tarkovsky's), pink flamingoes (check it out for some OUTRAGEOUS behaviour!), holy mountain, almodovar, kieslowski's 3 colours trilogy. (lots more)

books - so many - i devour books! (although recently i havent had so much time to since university has taken over all my reading time!) a top few are - the foutainhead, shantaram, anything by Murakami, number 9 dream, 1984.

music - a bit of everything really, although horace andy has been keeping me good company the last couple of weeks!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

(these tend to be done during summer times!)

Autumn 2017 - cycled most of the way on the Lands end to john o groats trail - nearly 1,000 km!

Summer 2014 - cycled from Brighton (UK) to Barcelona (Spain).

Summer 2012 - me and my best buddy katie hitched from brighton, uk all the way to Minsk, belarus, where we taught english at a UNESCO project. oh, we also hitched all the way back again! thats something like 4, 500 km. it was an incredible, epic, and inspiring journey.

During the summer of 20011, me and 2 friends spent a summer doing an epic cycle trip - from the beautiful spanish city of Granada to the mad world of ibiza- on what was essentially a shoddy lidl bike. What a beautiful trip!

ALSO: probably my most recent moment of euphoria - was sneaking in backstage at Guca to meet the master Goran Bregovic - and manage to record him sending my mum a happy birthday message! thank you goran - we had a great time!
