About Me
ABOUT ME
I have had a passion for traveling my entire life. I am a loving, adventurous person who enjoys learning from other people as well as building new friendships.
Throughout my childhood I have lived in multiple towns, states, and even countries. I believe the world is my teacher and each new experience expands my mind and strengthens my appreciation of life.
I spent a large chunk of my childhood living in Frankfurt, Germany. I truly believe this experience was the spark that ignited my constant desire to experience different cultures and landscapes. I was able to travel to multiple European countries where I indulged in food, art, and history. Exposure to different lifestyles encouraged me to grow into a more accepting and open minded person. It taught me to take nothing for granted, including social norms.
I was blessed to have parents show me a life of variety and diversity. Remaining in one location never lasted long and I continued to move throughout my middle school and high school life. I learned that home is where the heart is. It is not a finite, limited space, rather a feeling with infinite possibilities.
This desire, and boarder line addiction, to traveling and seeing the world followed me post high school. I attended college for some years in Virginia until the overwhelming desire to continue traveling set in. I took some time off from school and traveled across most of America, using peoples' couches as my source of shelter.
After two years of traveling America, I decided to go back to school in my home city of Philadelphia. I chose to study Anthropology, focusing on the socio-cultural aspect. Anthropology, is a fancy term, which simply means the study of the origin, the behavior, and the physical, social, and cultural development of humans. Anthropology, for me, is the perfect combination of travel and culture. It embodies my desire to learn about alternate lifestyles, near and far.
PHILOSOPHY
The world is your teacher. Love is the most powerful gift. Perception is everything
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am new to this website and online community but not new to the basic values Couchsurfing represents. The experiences and friendships that are formed through traveling serve as the greatest teachers in my life.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have never had any official experience through the Couchsurfing community. I have traveled quite a bit staying on friends and friends-of-friends couches. I have also opened my homes to people I met on the road and at music festivals. I enjoy the sense of community and friendship that comes along with opening your "home" to different people. It allows for a first hand experience of culture. I am a strong believer in what you put out your receive back ten fold. To be able to share my life experiences and learn from other peoples life experiences is a beautiful thing. I am beyond excited to find an online community that is based upon trust, good karma, and the desire to connect with individuals across the world, essentially forming a global community.
Interests
I am interested in music, food, and art. I love going to music festivals across the country. I love being able to have a weekend spent in nature bringing people from all over together. I like to hike and camp. I find nature to be extremely powerful and respecting the beauty of the world helps maintain a positive daily outlook.
