About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Looking to travel in my downtime.
ABOUT ME
Originally from Texas, but relocated to L.A. about four years ago. Like most, I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with the city, but as time passes it's starting to feel more and more like home. A big shitty home full of traffic, smog and endless burger places.
I currently work in education, although I originally moved to L.A. to work in a completely different industry. It's good work and keeps me out of an office. Which isn't the easiest thing to find.
PHILOSOPHY
Do it up.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Lots. There's a good chance we probably like some of the same stuff.
Books: Anything by Herman Hesse (but Siddhartha is the best), Sci-fi, The Singularity is Near (also anything about Transhumanism), historical fiction, wilderness survival and House of Leaves. Coloring books as well if they're not too complicated.
TV: Breaking Bad, House of Cards, Louie, et al.
Movies: Lots. I'm a movie guy (fair warning).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Walking through the desert naked and alone. When you're stripped of everything, things don't seem all that scary.
Teach, Learn, Share
I've fiercely independent. Maybe too much so. I moved out of my parents house before I graduated High School. It's not one of my proudest moments, but it's something I had to do. It sorta' defined the rest of my life that followed.
If I can't fit it in my car, then it doesn't travel with me.
Long story, short: I'm a writer looking to soak up as many experiences as I can. I've been at it for some time now, and I'm about to make the plunge and go back to school. My journey as a writer has been fun and ultimately enlightening, but now it's time to do some real good. One of the biggest lessons I've learned thus far is that most of us are lucky to have the opportunity to work and earn a livelihood, you shouldn't put it off for too long.
I've been lucky enough to experience a lot of wonderful things in my short time on this earth. I've created stories, lived through exciting and sometimes dangerous experiences, I've been surrounded by friends and then suddenly left alone wondering what happened, I've been loved and left heartbroken. I'm still learning and licking my wounds, but it all goes to make a great story and an even stronger man.
I'd love to share my life experiences with anyone willing to listen. I'm always looking for a mentor, I feel I never had proper guidance as a teen. My parents were largely absent in my life and I was forced to learn and adapt on my own. My life is not a sob story by any means, I wildly fortunate to wake up and have a roof and food. It's strange to admit there have been times when I haven't.
That being said, I can teach hard skills as well. Wanna learn to juggle, ride a unicycle, write a screenplay, live off of $20/wk, live in your car, survive in a tent? I can teach you. Just ask!
I can also talk your ear off about education reform, the current state of education in California and how immigration patterns are affecting the education system. Although this is my last year in education, I'm looking forward to taking my experiences with me in a new direction.
Or I can just shut up... your choice.
