ABOUT ME

I grew up all over the world, studied philosophy and rhetoric in university, then made my way to medicine via a roundabout route that included working as a rock climbing instructor, studying political science in Turkey, and teaching English to Bedouin youth in the Arabian desert.

PHILOSOPHY

We all have different beliefs and values, but share common rights and needs that transcend borders. I believe we should live consciously of how our choices impact others and the world we are leaving to all of our children. And we should all get outside and move and get a little dirty more often!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am new to the couchsurfing community officially though I've enjoyed many friends' couches and have always welcomed visitors.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

As a teenager living in Romania, my classmates and I would be hosted by families all over Europe for academic and sporting events. It was always a lot of fun and a great learning experience!

Music, Movies, and Books

I grew up reading Sherlock Holmes, Edgar Allan Poe, Jules Verne, Charles Dickens, and Tolkien. In high school I was a big Kurt Vonnegut fan and obsessed with Dostoevsky. In college I spent way too much time reading modern French and German philosophy. Now I like to read books about sustainable food and well-researched articles about global and social issues. I also like all kinds of musics and movies. Mostly non-mainstream stuff.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I gotta say, seeing babies being born is up there. Checking out the lunar fairy landscape of Cappadocia, Turkey was pretty amazing, and going on a hiking/backpacking unplanned trip with no food or gear for five days through Yosemite was pretty crazy.

-I can cook all kinds of yummy dishes from scratch (mostly vegetables these days).
