About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I am taking a break from work, heading back towards Seattle to help take care of my dad after he suffered a heart attack. So figured I'd make a road trip out of my journey back to my home city. I'm keeping myself focused in the now. Traveling. Meeting people. Expanding my boundaries.

ABOUT ME

I am in transition, formerly of the tech industry, but never a true adherent. I love food of all kinds. I love physical activity. I'm considering going to massage school (I completed a 5-week Thai massage course in Chiang Mai back in 2012). I enjoy meeting people and sharing meaningful conversations, whether about politics, the environment, civil rights, or stardust... Also, in the past few years I've realized how much I need my sleep, and that when I get it, I'm an incredibly happy, curious, energetic person.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is too short to eat crappy food. I aim to work to live, rather than live to work. People are all made up of the same stuff, all deeply flawed, and by recognizing this we can connect and understand each other.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now, by showing up, smiling, and being present in the beautiful moment. In the future, I hope to be in a position to host again. But for now, I'm on the road.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couchsurfed a few times in Thailand, and had a blast. Otherwise, I co-hosted with my roommate in San Francisco (look up Siri Oaklander), met some nice folks passing through these last few months.

Interests

Food (preparation, eating, sharing, ingredient origins, and nutrition). Reading. Physical activities (hiking, running, soccer, rock climbing, skiing, dancing on occasion). Meeting new people. Holistic approach(es) to health. Politics.

Music, Movies, and Books

A few...

Books: East of Eden, A People's History of the United States, The Book of Tea, Prodigal Summer

Music: So much good stuff that it would be silly to even begin. I like all sorts.

Movies: I like action or special effects-driven movies for pure entertainment. I like plot and character-driven movies for their stories. I like cinematographic masterpieces for their eye-candy art. I like documentaries because they make me think.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Trekking in Nepal. Blew my mind.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share asalatos. West African percussive shakers. My brother introduced them to me. I travel with them for use as occasional conversation starters. I love to cook, and with the right facilities/ingredients would be happy to make dinner or breakfast for/with any hosts or guests.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Same as above.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, France, Greece, India, Italy, Nepal, Singapore, Spain, Thailand, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

United Kingdom, United States
