ABOUT ME

I am 24 years old, originally from the North of Germany and recently came back from a year in Sri Lanka where I worked as a teacher in a small village school. Before that I finished studying philosophy and economics in Bayreuth, Bavaria. At the Moment I live in the United Kingdom where I am doing a degree in Economic History at the University of Oxford and work part time as a research assistant.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I feel like conventional traveling always maintains a certain layer of distance between the traveler and the locals. Couchsurfing is a great opportunity to tear down this wall and truly emerge in a new culture.

Interests

I love to meet new people, share awesome experiences and spontaneously do things out of the ordinary. I also love to read great literature and watch great movies. I am very interested in politics and especially questions of political philosophy, economics and history.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Anything by Philip Roth, John le Carré, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Robert Harris, and many others, as well as non-fiction especially in the realm of development economics, economic history and political economy.

Music: I mostly enjoy indie rock/pop stuff but depending on my mood I enjoy a vast variety of different styles.

Movies: All Paul Thomas Anderson movies; all Steve McQueen movies; most Scorsese and Christopher Nolan movies; all kinds of awkward indie dramas and comedies; anything with Phillip Seymour Hoffman.
