About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Figure out where to park the Ski-jo on Hakkoda

ABOUT ME

Having grabbed my fiance Im about to head back to Melbourne.. for good(?).. cant wait. Im a pretty active British/Australian guy who is relaxed but passionate about life. Here in Japan I try to spend my time surfing or snowboarding depending on the season, and a spot of hiking in between. I play a little guitar, enjoy writing and recording music (honestly, but not so seriously) and love smashing up a karaoke parlor. I love my footy, still play international games with the Lao Elephants in the mighty pink and grey strip, and have a projector to keep up with Collingwood back home. Yet despite all this theres not much I enjoy more than a good wine and cooking session with a couple of videos. I dont smoke regularly, but enjoy a Sheesha (Arabic water-pipe/Hubby Bubbly/Hooka) but I am fine with smoking company. ;p Carpe Diem.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had some great couchsurfers stay from Canada, the US, Australia, Tahiland, South Africa, Malaysia and England. While I was in Laos, I was so flooded with requests I had to largely just offer travel advice. Im always happy to do that.

I have used couchsurfing myself in Seoul, Hong Kong, Thailand and Taiwan and had a great time!

Interests

I really enjoy trying new things and going to new places. I play lots of sports- basketball, volleyball, surfing, ultimate, snowboarding, and Australian Football. Im love film, drama, dance and music (play a bit of guitar and love Karaoke).
Yet for all this I really love just chilling out over a bottle of wine and some candles, playing cards or watching a movie with a tub of icecream.
I really want to see and explore as much of the planet as possible.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies- Baraka, Code46, Das Boot, Amile, Elephant, The Pianist, City of God, Life is Beautiful, East is East, Star Wars, Battle Royale, and Hegewig and the Angry Inch.
Music, I love trance and raves but at home I listen to Coldplay, Muse, Bjork Radiohead, and System of a Down.

Books, Ive always loved to read- sci-fi especially, but now Im more into history, travel and science. I really enjoy a good story, and even more a good story-teller.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Watching sunrise over the rolling Sahara through a 6000 year old relief-carved gateway. Surrounded by mud-brick terracotta village houses and verdent green fields being tilled by sunburnt kids and stubborn donkeys.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Cambodia, China, Egypt, Germany, India, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Nepal, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, United Kingdom, Viet Nam
