About Me
Hiya! I'm an aspiring author from a very small town in Northern British Columbia. After realizing the uni life was not for me I moved to Edinburgh on what was supposed to be a gap year but I'm on year two now haha.
I now work as a bartender at a renowned whisky pub and spend my days selling whisky and writing my book at one of the manyyyy coffee shops in the city.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
When I first moved to Edinburgh I found it incredibly hard to find a flat and I lived in a hostel for 3 months. In that time I got really used to meeting new people everyday and sharing experiences which is something I now miss in my life.
I have a flatmate who isn't open to couchsurfing unfortunately but I'm more than happy to show people around the city and give history lessons haha. I know the city really well and I've always been interested in history so I could probably answer any questions you might have about the city.
I am also planning to go backpacking for 2 months this autumn through France and Germany and then through the Balkans so I'm looking to do a bit of networking before that. I've spent so long solo travelling places that it would be nice to do things with people while I'm visiting a new place.

Music, Movies, and Books
With books I tend to lean heavily towards the fantasy genre, that's actually the genre I am writing my book in. However, I do branch out now and again, and I lean particularly to the 'Dark Academia' aesthetic as well haha. Here is a list of some of my current favourites:
The Atlas Six, by Olivie Blake
(shoutout to anyone who read her hp fanfic back in the day)
This is honestly my favourite book of all time and I honestly couldn't tell you why. It just feels like it could have been specifically written for me. Like six overly pretentious, incredibly gifted, magic users in a secret society where only five truly get in and they have to murder one of them? It's like crack for my brain. I know this sort of thing can be incredibly tedious to other people though and I respect other people's decision to hate it.
The Kingkiller Chronicles, by Patrick Rothfuss
The Poppy War Trilogy, By R.F Kuang
Babel, by R.F Kuang
(honestly I'm obsessed with anything she writes)
A Room of One's Own, by Virginia Wolfe
The Secret History, by Donna Tartt
I also grew up obsessed with Harry Potter but cannot remember the last time I actually read the books (now I just read fanfiction) but I am a massive nerd and know like every single fact about it haha.
I will admit I don't watch that many films but growing up I was obsessed with Pirates of the Caribbean and idolized Elizabeth Swann. At World's End is my favourite one which is a controversial take I know.
I watched Everything, Everywhere, All at Once when it came out and really enjoyed it, cried through the entire film.
Studio Ghibli films are some of my favourites as well. Particularly Howl's Moving Castle.
My favourite song is Dream On by Aerosmith but my tastes in genres are quite varied. I enjoy like everything from really fast techno to classical to pop hits to rock. Feel free to find my Spotify, it uses the same name and profile pic as this website.
Teach, Learn, Share
Really trying to improve my French which is at a very poor level. Willing to trade English knowledge for it.
In the book I'm writing, I'm basing one of my languages on Bulgarian so anyone who wants to share their expertise on that language would be greatly appreciated haha.
I train in aerial silks so willing to give some advice to anyone wanting to begin that.
