ABOUT ME
I was born in the US in New York and have lived in New York, Rome and Prague. Currently, I live in Prague where I teach English. I studied literature at university and am mostly interested in American literature of the 19th century and Cold War literatures of the US and Eastern Europe.I'm always reading something and can always give/ take suggestions. My favorite types of people are the inquisitive ones--people who take nothing as fact and are willing to, and furthermore, who WANT to explore their minds and lives. I think this means I like people who want to talk; I like people who want to talk about everything and nothing at once. So I hope when we meet the conversations will be long and fruitful.I'm a vegetarian and I can cook some delicious food (usually pasta of some sort). I also know some good places to go eat here in Prague for vegetarians if that's what you're into. I'm definitely not judgemental about people who aren't vegetarians so no worries. I prefer to be more quiet and relaxed--drinking coffee and talking--but I also enjoy drinking very much. The Czech beer is cheap and delicious so there will be no let downs I can assure you.I love photography and you can check out my photos here- www.flickr.com/alex2If you like that feel free to check out my writing as well (with photos also!)- www.butalas.wordpress.com
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Its more important than ever for people to be able to have experiences such as these (CS). It is so easy to feel very disconnected from the people of the world. People like us are the ones who show everyone that as a group, we can do whatever we want.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I couchsurfed through northern Europe and Scandanavia with a good friend in the spring of 2010--it was my first couchsurfing experience and it was fantastic. Thanks to all who hosted me during that journey. I've also hosted a bit and am looking forward to doing more hosting in the future. I've met some great people through couchsurfing and hope to continually do so.
